I'm the worst lol I skip all the cutscenes and quest texts. Once in awhile I'll go to my inn room, while having a bite or doing a burn, and watch them in bulk. I hit 60 and didn't have a clue what happened in HW till last week. Cool story bruh.

If it's a story and a character I feel invested in I will read the text. That means I read most of the text in HW because I really loved the plot and characters this time around.
Except I zoned out hard on Moogles and just started bulldozing through those. Sorry, Moogles.

I read most of the text. I don't always read all of it word for word any more than I always pay strict attention to conversations IRL ("I'm sorry, what were you saying?" once I happen to catch something interesting). I don't typically have a problem with the fetch quests, because I don't see the world's zones as episodes of a TV show I've already watched "Meh, re-run, seen it before, don't care now". The same tree has been in my backyard since my family and I moved in in the late 90's, and I still enjoy looking at it. ;p
There are times where I make the trip on foot/mount just to take in the scenery again. Doesn't take me much to suspend that disbelief and imagine the history behind random buildings or bridges or paths. That immersion is helped along (for me) with the every-day mundane things the NPCs talk about/ask you to help them with. I don't need/want the game to be a fantasy simulator, but what FFXIV has is, to me, not unlike a good book. Movies focus on keeping your attention the whole way through, while books have more time to flesh the story out to better help you make connections with the characters and the world they're in.

I read like 80% of it. I skip it on side quests that seem to have no relevant story going on and its just a moogle going I HIT MY HEAD HELP FEED ME OR I"LL DIE. Then you bring em a nut and hes like THANKS NOW IM GONNA GO RUN AROUND TILL I HIT MY HEAD AGAIN SO I CAN GIVE YOU A FOLLOW UP QUEST

I have read all of them. TBH I never had so much fun sidequesting in any other MMO.
I cannot say that I remember any of them now, but back then they entertained me and thats important.
I can understand why people skip them, but I just play any RPG like this. I try to pick up everything, do everything, talk with everyone..![]()

If you haven't done the DRK quests yet, you should make sure to read all of the journal entries while doing the 30-50 job quest. It's... enlightening...
I read it all.
This is an rpg after all.
Depends on the situation. If it catches my interest like Summoner and Ninja I may read or watch, but honestly i've skipped like 90% of the scenes cus I got so bored of em.

I've read 100% of the quest text. Most of it is pretty funny!

Since I do a YouTube journal for the game, I do read all the text.
