I think we are due for a "everything goes to shit, for real" scenario. WoD beats the piss out of us, triggering loss of faith in our ability to steamroll everything.

An anime rule: The hero must lose the first fight, against a new villain.

Though beating the piss out of us would probably be a stretch. Getting the upper hand through deceit, maybe.

and we are willing to do simple tasks to help average people out.

I agree with that. We even go out of our way to help some Doman children have a little adventure, of their own.
