the cap have only one function, keep people occuped while waiting for the next add of content.
i dunno for you, but i still remember a time where we had no content and while still playing game.... mostly for the encounter. but today the mmorpg is mostly a raiding game, if they don't have high level content, understand here raid, people are not interested. that why too we don't see new main activity get out. because now mmorpg = raid... it's sad when you think the genre was not this at the start. it's almost a devolution of what it was means. the goal of a mmorpg was encounter people while having fun, but look at the game and the community?

toxic like hell and have little fun into it. why this? because they need to release high level raid. but the trouble is... not everybody do raid, i was quite a big raider before... but since i have join FF14 i don't feel like doing it. why? because i found it bland and not that good actually. before insult me, it's my opinion, i know that some people enjoy this sort of content. but do it have offer new challenge soo far? not really actually most of the mechanic seen in the raid we had soo far (maybe exept cerberus) was already used by other game before. why that? because raiding is something that didn't really evolve with all this time. tank swaping, dps check, meteor mechanic and such are not new, if you have done raiding for very long, you don't find this extremely appealing.

that why a lot of big raider was poiting ff14 as boring... mostly because the game is good, but don't try to create something outside a story and a universe. they don't risk, everything they have done soo far are choice with the less risk involved. now is the question is, do they plan to take risk someday and offer us true new experience? offer us a new evolution of the genre? or simply try something new?

but i digress, the gating is only there for keep people not doing raid occuped... do it work? less and less, they really need to think at a way to keep player... having fun! by the way the only way they can make the cap more interesting is make it cumulative, if you miss one week, your cap will be the cap of 2 week, means 900, if you miss 2 week, you will have 1350...... like this if a player can't reach it, because he can't play it.... he don't feel left out.

So if I'm raiding as a tank on one character this prevents me raiding as a dps on another character? No it doesn't. So why should raiding as a tank prevent me from raiding as a dps on the same character?

Except it doesn't prevent you from raiding on your dps job -___-

Both your tank and dps jobs don't need to be full i200+ to raid.

Given that the fights in Alex Savage (which are the only things you'd need i200+ gear for) need two tanks, two healers, and four DPS, the need for specific composition would prevent you raiding as a dps on another character.

There is absolutely zero reason why I shouldn't be able to gear them to the same ilvl for the best preformance, none.

The reason is because SE said so. Whether or not you think that's a good reason is irrelevant. Seriously, why do you need to be able to equip all of your jobs in the best gear right out of the gate outside of just wanting the option? Even if you play multiple classes it's highly unlikely you play them all equally enough to the point that you need them all to be raid-ready. If you trickle down your equipment/currency properly you'll always have at least two classes geared enough to attempt new content anyway.

You have way too much free time buddy... You are free to make the 2nd toon and farm all Eso all you want. Not everyone have as much free time as you to make 2nd toon but I am sure you would have no problem with that.

You seem to think it's actually difficult to hit cap now. Doing one ex roulette per day, you will hit cap with time to spare. So nice try. If you're going to be rude, don't be ignorant.

A casual player who plays only about an hour/day has time to cap with time to spare, and therefore time to get even a few more than 450 esos if this suggestion were to be implemented. "Get a life" is a completely irrelevant piece of "advice" as a result. Unless you think people who play an hour a day need to get a life too.

Haha, I spend good amount of time on-line and I have so many things to do other than 'farming' or 'capping'.
Expert Roulette > Level up Roulette for other job > Trial Roulette > harvesting > crafting > chatting with FC members > helping with Rav Learning Party to name a few. And whoa I stayed online over 3 hours already! Yeah sure I can CAP it in one day, maybe over the weekend but i will be absolutely bored by doing that. It's not even funny how people make fun of Korean MMO being Grind and now people want it from Japanese one. I would much rather do what i want to do without having a fear of getting behind. For what I understand about this game since 1.0 is that this game is more focus on casual player not hardcore. Which we can fairly easily catch up even though you came back from few month break. I still think it is good advice to say spend less time on game and spend more time on real life.
