[Help] adding a new Crossbar on screen Ps4

I don't know how to explain this properly but I am a ps4 user and to use my action I place them in a cross bar of 16 slots.what I want to do is to have 24 skills on my screen in 5 crossbars. So I can see my other skills I wanna use rather then pressing R1 + TRIANGLE SQUARE ETC ETC just to check when CD are available too . is it possible? Or how do I actually use the HOTbars on ps4 or how do I pla e the skills in them? Bare in mind I don't use the mouse option just the controller as it is.

    Any help will be appreciated.

You can actually do this if you are looking for a bar that you just want to see when skills cooled down. To do this all you need to do is go to the HUD and turn on the first mouse crossbar once you do that you would need to go to the game options and turn on mouse mode. In mouse mode you can drag the skills you want to see onto the mouse bar. That should allow you to see when the skills are ready.

It depends on what you're trying to achieve.

As Capone mentions, if you want to keep an eye on cooldowns, you can add a regular hotbar to the HUD and place long cooldown skills on it. You won't be clicking them here, just monitoring when they're ready to use or not.

If the issue is remembering which cross-hotbar has which skills on, or trying fumbling with thr R1+circle, triangle, square, etc combinations, you might want to limit yourself to 2 battle hotbars. In the settings you can choose an R1 tap to only toggle between these 2 cross-hotbars whenever your weapon is drawn. This way, if the skill you need is not on your current hotbar, you just tab R1 and it's there on the "other" one for sure.

I made a thread discussing the setup for WHM cross-hotbars a long time ago. Not sure if there's anything useful for you there, but it's: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...ars-White-Mage

edit: Just to say a fair bit has changed since I posted the above, I rarely use sleep now, so that's moved off to the R2+L2 additional cross-hotbar, and I've had to ditch some doubled up stuff / chocobo, etc from to make room for lvl50-60 skills on my 2 battle hotbars. Also I found the target my targets target macro glitched in one dungeon (Tam-tara hard on the last boss crawling adds) so decided to go with regular skills.

Yeah, I find the easiest thing to do is use the main crossbar and the L2+R2 crossbar (that can be enabled in Character Settings > Hotbar > Cross > tick "Enable expanded controls") so I don't have to deal with using too many buttons just to switch crossbars. Then I've enabled two vertical regular hotbars, put them beside my crossbar and added 6-8 long cooldown skills to it so I can see their cooldown status at all times. Then I've just ingrained which skill is where in muscle memory.

Using the L2+R2 crossbar gives me easy access to 32 skills, and I've yet to play a job that needs more than that. I put items and signs and stuff like that on a third bar but since it gets used much less frequently it's not a problem.

Appreciated. I still don't quite understand this R to switch between 2 crossbars rather than pressing R + TRIANGLE SQUARE etc. I like the idea of having a hotbar just showing me the Cds , I might need to do that.

It would be great if we can actually break the cross bars just having 4 skills into a crossbar and place it somewhere in screen.

Thank you for the advice. Gonna look into this properly once I'm done with work.

Cool. Good luck with it when you get home.

It's not for everyone, but I really like using gamepad even on my PC now. It just took some time to set it up how I wanted and get used to it.

With the toggle thing. By default, tapping R1 toggles you through each of your 8 cross-hotbars - pretty useless in battle. If you find the setting called "Enable customisation for when weapon is drawn", you can just mark the two cross-hotbars you use in battle. Then any time your weapon is drawn, tapping R1 will just switch between these two. I really recommend it.

Yeah, it's very handy and speeds up your play quite a bit. By default, crossbar 8 is where you should place skills to make them work with it - pressing L2 and then R2 gives you the left half of crossbar 8, pressing R2 and then L2 gives you the right half of it. Keep your main rotation skills on your main crossbar, put mostly cooldowns and less-used things on the L2+R2 crossbar and everything else (like items, signs, LB etc.) on a separate crossbar that you access the "old" way.

EDIT: Oh, and remember to make sure crossbar 8 is NOT shared between classes. Just untick it on the Sharing tab. Otherwise other jobs would still have your SMN skills show up on the L2+R2 crossbar.

I have a couple of the vertical hotbars which I've set keyboard hotkeys to activate (I use CTRL 1-4 for one side and ALT 1-4 on the other, kinda FFXI style). That's where I keep some long cooldown abilities and Limit Break, or stances that I'm only going to need to use once. That's freed up some space on my XHBs. Then yeah, I have another set up just to monitor cooldowns on stuff I can't immediately see on my main bar.
