Some weird names for items

I noticed that around levels 20-30 there are various helmets called "Elmos". I googled "Elmo" and looked it up in various web dictionaries and there is nothing out there that tells me elmo is any kind of helmet.

Did they make this up or something? It's no different then calling a certain type of a helmet a George. Anyone have an explanation for this?

False. Elmo is a Sesame Street character and the helmets are named in his honor.

I think a Pieste is supposed to be a cobra with something else (been a while I forgot).

The most common way of writing it is "piast," and it's a kind of eel monster from Irish folklore.
