Refunded for Heavensward.

Square just got back to me about my refund for Heavensward. I bought the expansion upon hitting level 50 expecting to move on to Ishgard, etc etc. Turns out I still had to play through all the irrelevant lv50 content, but in the meantime of doing that I grew bored of the game and had no interest in Heavensward, hence getting a refund. Kinda felt scammed.

Such a shame. I was pretty excited when I hit lv50, but doing endless fetch quests for virtually no reward (4k exp at lv50) for over a month really killed the game for me.

They made it well known that you would have to do all 2.X content before even getting to Heavensward content months before the expansion came out.

I didn't play "months before the expansion came out". I played for 2 or 3 weeks. And no where on their website did they make it known.

It took you a month to not even finish the post 50 content?
I can't remember how long it took me to do everything, but it only took me a week to do 2.3-2.55 and that was me taking my time with it.

That said, I understand your complaint, and unlike many around here I think it is a valid one. Sure, I was able to complete it and many others around here were, but we should not under-estimate the amount of people who want a fresh start at an expansion launch. Fresh starts and things like "You don't have to play the last two to understand the story of this installment" absolutely do help sell copies.

In order to enjoy the benefits of early access to Heavensward content, you need to be playing FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn and have made sufficient progress in the main scenario. As such, early access will not be available to new players who pre-order the FINAL FANTASY XIV Online all-in-one bundle and have yet to begin their adventures.

Meaning FINISH all MSQ to 50 and then you will access 50-60 content which is totally fun (level locks then force to grind to next level) :P hard work but meh dungeons > fates grind ftw

The only thing on their website was for Early Access people. I've seen people use this as a defence before. Ultimately SE did nothing to let anyone outside of the game know this information. They should have made people aware on the sites they sell the game etc. I don't blame you for stopping, and don't feel like you're missing out, once you've completed the lvl 50 fetch quests, guess what there's even more of when you reach Ishgard?

As for the OP's complaint (or rather: lament) is not the issue of doing earlier content, but how very dull it is. (dull+ long)

BOOM! Also using the word "sufficient" was weak of them. They should have said players must have completed ALL of the MSQ.
