    Thoughts on Heavensward

    Nicely into heavensward, some thoughts.
    • Very pretty.
    • Interesting main story.
    • Raid needs work -- not enough build up, not enough pressure
    • Crafting & gathering needs to have this awful system scrapped and reworked. After someone actually explains what they were thinking when they designed it.
    • Black Mage needs completely reworked. If it's only useable by the best of the best, the changes are bad. If you have to go down to 50% dps while you are learning the fight, and will only make it back up to 80% when you do .. why even use the new abilities?
    • The attitude that crafting gear should be on par with law needs to go away ASAP. If crafting gear is going to be gated 3 times, with one of them being a ridiculous RNG, it needs to be comperable to Savage. Otherwise there's no point in it and you might as well delete the battle recipes and save the book space. If it's supposed to be law comparable only then the gates need to go away outright.

    BLM needs to be reworked because people don't wanna learn how to be really good at it?

    This is a black mage.

    Also the Jewelry is better then Savage Jewelry. Due to what raw stats you can shove on it. Secondaries are pointless this expansion all except piety/crit which effect you very little.

    No this is what Black Mage is supposed to be. Weakest defense of any job but being the strongest spike damage of all jobs. Maybe summoner being the closest or tied.

    -its not a matter of getting good at anything its simply ses inability to see the larger picture.
    the blm rotation is not difficult...in fact its quite simple.

    adjust af and ui to accomodate the endless movement and overused times that bosses disappear, needing to jump into void zones, constant collecting of objects etc and blm could be awsome.
    doesnt have to be extreme , but it could definately use a fix imo.

    I cant say for melee ,but i know changing to smn is a cake walk to maintain all buffs/debuffs, to execute any ability when needed compared to af or ui on blm.
    Its not job difficulty, its simply an overlooked timer issue when movement mechanics are so overused.

    Mind you Im enjoying the extreme freedom and mobility of smn so much I would not go back to blm even if a change came so meh.

    - agree its pretty
    - as for crafting, not too fond of specialist design, not enough incentive ...need perks added to it as I suggested a while ago.
    Wont get into the scrip thing ..have little intention to do it as it stands now, maybe one day though

    As far as raid is concerned, it's literally the first wing of a new raid. I mean sure it really has no backup, but something like Binding Coil had an entire game's (1.) worth of backstory behind it. Alexander is just sorta... out of nowhere.

    Though I do agree it could've been made more interesting. They already went with an idea of a normal/story mode difficulty, so it would've been perfectly feasible to make it relevant to MSQ (thus upping the importance, atmosphere and backstory behind a raid instance).

    In a nutshell
    >In order to do red scrip crafts, you need to do favors to get two types of materials, ten of each.
    >The ways favor work, you get a 15 minute buff for a specific area, and you have a random chance to get a concealed node to spawn after emptying a level 60 node. In other words, its 15 minutes of RNG gathering
    >>In average, most players would get 3 or 4 items per favor. But you need 10 materials to trade in, so on average, you'd spend 45 minutes on one type of favor to get the amount needed for a trade in.

    Sure you can make it a collaborative effort where yo uget 5 gatherers together, but the matter of fact is, the favors themselves are in essence, a long wrestle with RNG. There's no challenge to it and it can get extremely tedious after 10 minutes. The awful bracket of 15 minutes means you can't reliably go on duty finder to pass the time, and you really can't pause during those 15 minutes. without sacrificing efficiency.
