NPC s speak English also in Japanese version

Most of Japanese are not good at hearing English.
But in this game, NPC speaks english only. So we Japanese have to read logs during quests and it disturb to watch movies and enjoy quests.

I think it is one of reason why Japanese players leave this game.
I want to know if you have any opinion why square dosent use Japanese even in Japanese version.

Also the text on the maps are in english too (but not latin letters)

Well, most final fantasy games is best with japanese speech and english text, but this is an international mmo, most people understand english, but not japanese .. still the game should have been dubbed to all main languages, norwegian being one of them

In any version you should be able to change language in FINAL FANTASY XIV Config.

The developers already mentioned that all voice work will be in English to avoid lip sync issues with various languages.

I wouldn't mind to have Japanese speaking but I don't think you should mind to have English speaking.

Maybe it is because in my country, every movie is translated to my language using text only, that I don't think this is a big problem. I can see why they did it this way. Different lip synchronization for Japanese and English + different voice-actor is too big task and slows the development too much. Because it's an international MMO, international language is used.

It may be a problem to Japanese because Square-Enix is a Japanese company, but in the end they still focus for the Japanese playerbase more often than not. Naoki Yoshida speaks directly to the Japanese players, but not English. I am sure the developers also read more Japanese forums than English, and let community representatives translate. I think this is a great advantage to get your voices better heard.

But please do remember, that if Square focus on the Japanese playerbase too much, English speaking playerbase may leave the game. So they try to balance it. I hope I did not offend you with this.

Best method for player is that movies are customize for each language ,but I know its difficult for a lot of reason

I would not mind Japanese voices by the way, but I am sure there are some English speaking people who do... they are also used to not having to read text I think~. And there are those who just want more movies as fast as possible .

They could speak something like latin and have text for English and Japanese .
