this patch is great for people that have been stuck in there 30's and 40's for the past few months and the higher you go it seems the more exp you can reel in.
However Low Level EXP comes painstakingly slow. battleleves for L10s are fucking joke you cant even do the ones with Grouped mobs solo on one star with the proper gear. sad part is if you cant even do your leve's what are you supposed to do. at L10 that's all you've got for content.
As for why the Hammering on New Guys like a 10 gill Whore. my guess on this is SE thinks all the FFXIV Vets are up there in the levels and that the true new players wont know what they had missed. if i had to start all over there's no way in hell i would touch this game with a 10 malm Poll.
Youre doing it wrong I suppose, do you want to know what slow is?At its current rate (so a level one character starting today, post patch), if going solo, theres absolutly no way i can see you getting to 20 in a day unless your playing 12 or more hours. Especially without help. Your dreaming.
The rage forums on hp and xp levels post patch should be pretty biblical.
Having aquired the 500 enemies slain achivement before getting the 15 level achievment.
12 hours is nothing for having gained 20 levels in the game, although I am 100% sure that you can get there faster MUCH FASTER, also try to party, or quit the game if you dont like it or you cant play it.
The game is fine.

Game is fine. In fact, it's bloody great now.
Still another 50% to go.
Exciting.
So..... your life injecting idea for a game that is socially struggling, would be to enhance solo play? O, kkkkayyyyyy....I may be new to the game seeing as I started about a month ago, but combat seems to have taken a turn for the worse...i've only had experience with the previous patch, but i prefered combat before this one. It seems like a bad idea to me to focus gameplay so heavily on groups when the game is pretty much socialy dead.
First off, sarcasm is not needed. Second, I never said that. Don't put words in my mouth.
I'm all for group play, in fact I prefer it. However this game isn't social at all right now, especialy to new players and I believe that something needs to be done about this lack of player interaction one way or another.
A fresh character won't come anywhere close to 20 in one day. I just got done ranking LNC, PUG, and THM to 9 and the only reliable way I could get steady XP was to kill the R1 Coblyns until about rank 3/4, then go kill R2-3 Coblyns until about rank 6, and finally I would do 6-9 on rank 4-5 Chigoes. I did 4 rank 1 leves on the PUG. I'm not sure how long it took, but it was longer than 2 hours.
There was downtime even when I outranked the respective mobs by 2-3 levels. I tried killing a rank 10 Marmot as a rank 9 PUG and it nearly had my ass. It's not an L2P issue because killing a stationary mob and only having 3 or 4 abilities isn't exactly rocket science. I was wearing my weathered stuff the whole time, but what do you expect a new player to do? Spend the very little gil he gets from the first two storylines on what will probably turn out to be 3 pieces of gear he'll have to replace in 3 or 4 levels? Seems a bit unrealistic and for a new guy, it's pretty damn frustrating.
The pacing of combat just sucks in my opinion.
I don't want handouts or to be level capped in two weeks, but is it really going to hurt to let people solo mobs a bit faster for a bit better XP? Half the reason I moved here from XI was because when I played XI it was a massive grind, and this game was supposed to be more casual friendly, but it seems like they're moving away from that. I really have no problem with grouping, but I do have a problem when grouping is so vastly superior to solo for leveling my character I feel frustrated even trying to go do something solo. I think there should absolutely be forced grouping at endgame for certain activities and even a part of leveling should include grouping, but I don't like the idea that a player who wants to solo is so severely hampered from the start.
Sorry for the wall o' text.
The way they have moved and changed the mobs you need to kill mobs around your same level. They are beginning to set off level progression areas moving section by section on the map as you level up. So you tell me if this is bad? Level 20 killing a level 22 getting 350-400 XP? For all you whiners out there I grinded 48-50 on 50SP mobs back in the day and I did it in short order. At the pace of 350ish XP per kill with this current patch and no fatigue cap you can get to 25 in 1 day easily at level 1 if you tried. Please learn to play the game. It's not a mad point and clicker...learn your gear limits, learn your skills, learn what mobs to kill. Killing a really weak and or a really high mob will not yield especially fabulous results if you soloing. Pace it..and you'll succeed.

I was a new player in this game too you know, when it was MUCH harder to rank up, when you gained SP with each punch (if you where lucky), when you had to deal with Fatigue, so I feel no sympathy.
Just learn to play like everyone else, do your leves and party with others, there are plenty of ways to get to 20 in a day and thats fast, period.

Don't know what they doing with their leves...if you do them right they should yield a good 5-10,000 at low levels. You should get to level 7 by the time you complete 8 leves. 10 if you got lucky on the leves available. And 2 hours to do leves? Seriously? If I soloed I can do 8 leves in an 45 minute to an hour that's with dying a lot along the way.I was a new player in this game too you know, when it was MUCH harder to rank up, when you gained SP with each punch (if you where lucky) so I feel no sympathy.
