    ps3 version

Okay so I realize that the ps3 version isn't the best, however would the newest ps3 model handle the game better than the older ones? The console i'm playing on is one of the originals (the ones that can play ps2 discs) and I can't add on a SSD since i'm just borrowing it. I know it won't graphically look better, I just want to get rid of that really annoying combat lag.

I'd assume the combat lag either has to do with your internet connection or the servers but Imay be wrong on that I'd assume all ps3s handle ffxiv the same way unless you have bad internet or its the servers

Well lag might be the wrong word, there's a 50% chance that during combat my character will still preform attacks and I can move around but the target does nothing and then the game catches up a little bit later. My connection seems fine as I can still do dungeons on my laptop (about all it can do in the game) and other games run well the the console. I thought that the ps3 version in general had problems because of low memory space and the one i'm using is around 30 gigs I think.

My slim model PS3 still had the issue you are describing. The only thing I've heard about helping the ps3 graphical lag is installing a solid state, I upgraded to the PS4. I'd recommend saving up for one if you want to play FFXIV on a console long term; while the game can potentially run better on a PC, it runs very well on the PS4.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Damn, well guess that's more motivation to move to the 4. I'm sure I can keep doing solo stuff on the 3 until then It's just that the combat can get really frustrating when I keep getting hit by AOEs. Well thanks for the recommendation. Hopefully my laptop can handle any story based group content that I still need to do......

I never had that problem while I was on PS3, but my PS3 was upgraded with a solid state drive, so maybe that's why. If so, it suggests a drive issue rather than a communication or memory issue, though, either of which would seem a more likely match to the symptoms. (My PS3 is the same older model that includes the PS2 as well as PS3 chipsets for full backwards compatibility. Really nice feature, but the drive that came with it was way too small for me, so got upgraded quite a while ago.)
