    30 fps cap fixes stutters!

since the game's launch the frame rate would always stutter despite getting very high frames. the only time when frames would smooth out and be normal was when the framerate hit 60 or higher to reach the game's cap.

now that they included the 30fps cap the game runs silky smooth (less load and server lag stutters) and it allows me to finally max out the game including AO. before it was painfull playing the game maxxed out because it was a stuttery mess despite being at 45 fps at camps, etc.

    just a heads up.

I wish they would add a 45 FPS cap option also, 30 FPS isnt quite right for me but 60 FPS heats up my GPU alot so 45 cap woulda been nice.

I also noticed that in this update my camera doesnt freak out and jump when i walk up/down a ramp or steps

That's all well and good, but I'd much rather them fix the problem, rather than ask us to limit graphical settings. My system is a beast, it can run darn near anything on full - and it still stutters. I shouldn't have to set it to a lower FPS because of slapdash programming. :/

well we dont know if its the game's fault or gpu driver issue but i agree that their engine is severly lacking for pc support. but the bottom line is that 30 fps is considered liquid. you dont need more than this for a slow paced rpg. now that the 30fps limiter is in place you can max out the game and not run into stutters. it also lowers gpu load and temps. this is also a perfect solution for multi-gpu rigs (which i have) because it eliminates micro stuttering.

at maxxed out settings including 8x AA and AO i would oftentimes hit the 40-45 fps range and it would be a stuttery mess before this patch. now with the 30fps limiter the game is buttery smooth because my frames are always above that. so even if they had the 45 fps option i would never select it.

the only times it will stutter is when server / load latency-based lag. they need to address this issue as well.

FFXI is all the proof you need to know it's SE's poor coding and not our machines.

Not to hate on XI or SE, but seriously - they need a crash course on resource management or something... I run the Battlefield 3 Beta on my rig virtually lag-free on High Settings, yet XIV still makes my PC heat up. That's not right.
