Apeiron Kinglight, Faerie. If you're on Faerie and need a hand, keep my name somewhere and see if you can't catch me when I'm on. I'm never too busy to help players out. If you've got party finder, keep an eye out for my clear parties. I also started Elkeid, a LS specifically to help players and socialize.
I've got DRG 60, WHM/SCH 50, AST 54, PLD 50.
Raina Shade, Faerie. My main is AST but I play all the jobs on a regular basis. People I know like to refer to me as an Eorzean encyclopedia, so if you have a question there's an excellent chance I know the answer. Please let me know if you need any help, and if you need a free company or linkshell, feel free to head over to the Faerie forums and check out my posting for <Lewd>! ^_^
Hmm. Seems we have a TON of people willing to mentor, but not so many willing to be upfront about needing help.
How do we reach out to those people I wonder. We need to get their attention somehow.
Newbies probably don't feel comfortable posting on a forum. Or even know there's a forum to begin with.
Not calling them newbies might be a start.
I mean, I know OP doesn't mean it negatively but it is generally a negative term.
Not really going to argue about this, but in no way has the word ever been used as a positive one. n00b, newb etc are just variants of the same thing, because the internet loves shortening everything. If you're trying to tell me that "newbie" doesn't sound worse than "new player" you're only lying to yourself.

No, you're thinking of n00b, which is the insulting version. Newbies is the more general term for someone who is new and is usually not an insult.
Edamus Brightblade PLD and adventurer extraordinaire. Willing to mentor. Even you you shady Evil Empire guys.
Ahh I'm a new player on a japanese data center: mana and server: anima and name: Chihaya tatewaki and I'm having trouble with the language barriers. If there was someone on that server to play with or just to help with understanding simple japanese phrases I'd like that. I can read hiragana but I'm terrible with kanji. I know its a weird kinda thing to ask for help with but I just lag too much on the american servers and I'd really like to be able to at least understand when they ask me to do things. If anyone can help please do.
No, actually, miles is correct. "Newb" and "Newbies" are nowhere near negative, it's up to you how you want to see it, but that's the same as anyone who would just suddenly think random words are offensive. "Noob" is the derogatory word. Not calling them newbies might be a start.
