First details for second Final Fantasy XIV expansion already decided

Naoki Yoshida: “The team already fixed what world it’s going to be and what the special feature or focus will be. The first task for 4.0 is to draw the storyboard for the next opening scene. You maybe still remember the opening scene of 3.0 with the dragon. I have written the concept for this storyboard a year and a half before launch. Right now I have time for the next one and the end of the 3.x scenario is already fixed, too.”

Not much, but it seems it will be another 1.5 years till the next expansion. Swimming will most likely be the next feature.

Sounds about right. Blizzard began work on each of their next expansions pretty much as soon as they finished launching the previous one.
Stay the course, it'd be hard to make a new xpac that had as little impact on me as when WoW announced "Legion".

I advice you to be very cautious with Legion tbh.
Look at when WoD announced and how much content got removed completely.

I, for one, would love an updated, modern take on an Endless (or at least 100 floor) small man raid like Nyzul (i highly doubt it will include the same name), or something like Sea, or a well done Besieged.

Karabor, ferelon, Ogre continent, Tanaan jungle being more then a daily questhub, a hundered questlines that either don' end (remember the ogre in Nagrand that said "i will see you in Highmaul" where we never saw anything of) or skipped quests entirely (Doomhammer suddenly doing a 180)

I never bought WoD. Got tired of the continued stupid focus on orcs and humans and the expense of every other bit of the universe and quit after SoO.

I'm relieved I didn't.
