Okay, this makes sense. Let's hope materia V's will be available in high quantities. :PApart from the fact that crafting i170 gear lets you have the full sets of gear earlier (at the cost of it currently taking a MASSIVE amount of additional time and effort) there's also the fact that the i170 gear can be made to have better stats than the i180 gear if you throw enough materia at it.
You can cap the left-side sans Body with IV's, and you'll need just 1 CP V for the 3/5 of the Accessories to get them capped. Though you will need those V's for the Primary & Secondary Tools. I've read some pretty genius ways to get IV's from the ilv 55 gear![]()

Buying the i180s.
I can already forsee the i170s won't be worth the investment with how miniscule of an improvement they are over the i180s and I'm not willing to spend millions getting the materials and melding them with grade Vs.
Gonna get full 180 on weaver and culinarian and see where I stand then.

It took me all week to farm the materials (doing one favor every so often between trying to get my blue scrip books for miner/botanist, while capping red scrips) but I finally made my BSM off-hand just before servers went down. If they improve the favor system with this hotfix, then I'll be spending less time to get those materials and can maybe get more than 1 off-hand a week (at least I won't have to get blue scrip books again.. thank god).
As for my plan, now that I have the BSM off-hand I'm going to try the 170 BSM main (yes it's less, stats, but it's also an upgrade over my i150, and I can get it for roughly 1/6th of the tokens, or 6 i170 main-hands for every one i180 main-hand I would have bought with tokens). Yes this also means I will be missing out on about 20 craftsmanship or so until the market is able to supply a decent amount of grade 5 materia. Will I really need that 20 craftsmanship? not until 3.1; I was already able to 100% HQ my off-hand.
My plan is get all the crafted ilv 170 gear and near-max meld them then use my extra 9 tokens per week to craft gear / gather materials and sell them on the Mb. When this gear is necessary there will be a rush to get it and meld them and I'll already be there![]()

No plans. Still at 1 2* item crafted (weaver off hand) and lacking the motivation to make any more.
I made the BSM and CRP offhands and melded them with four tier IVs and a tier III materia. It was too much for me ! I don\\'t have time in a week to hit A1-4, cap esoterics, cap red craft scrips, cap red gather scrips, keep up my supply of ventures, AND spend hours and hours and mindless hours doing favors to be able to buy mats. And just forget about leveling another battle class to 60... It didn\\'t take long for me to realize that on average I was getting less than 20 barter items from concealed nodes per set of five favors. If I had been able to keep it all going I would have eventually found myself out of gather tokens and unable to buy crafting materials while my red craft tokens collect dust.
On Mateus there is NO marketboard supply of ooids and warts to close the gap. The only players doing favors are omnicrafters who are trying to make their own crafting gear and similarly would not be willing to part with an ooid at any price. All the pure gatherers are focussed on buying i180 gathering equipment with their tokens and aren\\\\\\'t wasting tokens on favors.
So now I am getting my weekly tokens and simply stacking them until the whole situation becomes tenable. Cause the current situation is just shit.

at the moment the plan is waiting to see what they are now gonna do with favors, which means doing nothing but capping reds =
I've made and melded all the accesories and BSM main hand thus far, but the next step is ARM>CUL>GSM>LTH>WVR>CRP>ALC main then repeat for body and offhands.

26 tokens (for the i180) for the MH tool is a lot. But .. what else are you going to use your RCS on while gearing your Gatherers in the i180 gear they get? It takes 9 weeks to get all of the i180 gear for any given Gathering class .. that's enough time for three of the Crafting class' MH tools. If you decide to do all three Gathering classes, that's more than enough RCS for all of your MH tools, with almost 4 weeks' worth of RCS left over for other stuff.
