That would be pretty awesome I think, but only if they were more akin to a beastmen race. Could even work it into the future storyline one or more beastmen splinter factions decide to join one of the nations as refugees and takes up arms as adventurers.
Honestly, I'd kill there to be better options with customization to make Miqo'te and Au Ra more beast like, it'd definitely solve some issues of the lack of tough looking options. The biggest issue is every time you talk about it people, people act like it's never going to happen and shouldn't be done because it'd kill the race and it's impossible due to lore.
Like.. Give me Au Ra girls as big as the guys with lots of scales and a tough looking face please. You can keep your cute ones, I'm not trying to remove that, but I'd love for the ability to make an Auri lady or Miqo'te that's as tough looking as the guys.
I was pointing out how the (female) Au Ra look vs the Hyur, vs how the Miqo'te look vs the Hyur. The entire context of my statement was regarding how SE painted themselves into a corner when they removed the unique gear treatments for the Miqo'te they also removed the unique gear treatments for all current and future races. The (female) Au Ra's only defining attributes are the horns, tail and face shape vs the standard Hyur model. Face shapes aren't really a big deal, it's the horns and ears that are. The Miqote have articulated ears, so all the animation sets have to take that into account. If all SE did was make it so that only head gear was unique, (given all the different ear shapes) we'd not be having this argument. But in the V1.0 gear all the gear was unique per race and gender. With V2.0 all the gear for the Hyur and Miqo'te was folded together. So we have a lot of visually annoying clipping issues with regards to tails and hair. When the Au Ra were added, they used same gearsets as the Miqo'te. The only reason the Lalafell have unique gear is because the shape of their body parts aren't the same scale as a Hyur.I don't think the men Au Ra look Asian at all (Not to mention, grouping a giant content filled with a lot of different ethnicities under one distinct term is a little rude) while the girl's just look.. Young. Like, my younger sister has a face incredibly similar to them and we're white as heck. Let's just be frank here, the girl's look like teenagers and tweens, the guys however don't. The guys look young, sure, but they look like mid 20's young, not mid teen's young.
Like when it comes down to it, adding another race that is "different" is actually a lot of work, because every new piece of gear must be multiplied by the number of races and genders the game has. That slows down content development.
Adding something that is basically "a tall Miqo'te with bunny ears" involves no gear reworking at all, save maybe changing hoods to have larger ear spaces. Adding a "canine" race that actually has a completely different way of walking ( digitigrade ) requires far more work that can't be done since it's not part of the existing gear animation set. If we didn't get unique Au Ra animations, we're not going to get unique Viera or any other race that walks on it's toes.
This all could have been avoided if they left Miqo'te butts alone :P but hey maybe there's more flexibility that SE is letting on. I don't see SE "fixing" this, ever. So don't expect playable furries.
Honestly, lore-wise the game is consistent with this... how do you think the game excuses changing race? When ko'd we also revive at a crystal. "Putting" your body into something else is completely within the lore of the game, albeit I don't think Hydaelyn would support it.You haven't seen the spirit possessing another race's body yet, but that certainly doesn't mean that it's not possible.
And what would happen in this instance? That's a good question, that would be answered when/if it happened. It could work in any multitude of ways, either altering the new host's body, or not altering it at all.
If I recall correctly, the last thing the Sahagin chief had was a bullet in his brain, by your logic the new Sahagin should've been the proud owner of one as soon as he was possessed. So clearly, the consciousness, or the soul, is the only thing that's transferred.
Lore functions to make the world consistent. If the changes made to it are also consistent, then it's functioning perfectly as intended.

You do remember that fishback was using Ascian evil sorcery to do that? Its not a natural aspect of the Echo anymore than Primals naturally appear on theirown. As Ascians can possess various bodies I'll go with that as my answer to whatever question your trying to bring up.
Hehe.. I would so play one of these
Also... they could do a smaller version of viera (More rabbit like, less human... kind of like some of these are) although facial expressions may be problematic
As I stand looking out from my window, I reminisce about the old days and the many ups and downs of my adventures throughout Eorzea.
It is then that I know achievement.
Actually, that's a supposed 'advanced stage' of the Echo. Though the trade-off appears to leave them vulnerable to being absorbed by Primals (since you're pretty much Aether at that point, which is what Primals feast on).You do remember that fishback was using Ascian evil sorcery to do that? The Ascian's themselves also (seem to) have the Echo... which now makes me think what our player characters really are.
Whatever they add, I just hope it's something...different. Most of the female options are overtly cutesy waifu-bait and most of the male options are just kinda rugged, tough-guy ish.
I know it's still super duper cool to hate WoW and say what you will, but they did a darn fine job at making each race look drastically different. Well, for the most part anyway. And I'm not trying to downplay what they've done with FFXIV, but I mean what do Viera bring that we don't have an abundance of already?
I wouldn't mind my own FranI loved her in FFXII
Bunny people basically. I mean, let's be honest, the girl au ra didn't bring much to the table their heights and small horns make it so easy to mistake them for Miqo'te it's just dumb... But due to those who like their waifish waifus and those who act like it's impossible to make a race with girls who look equally fierce as the guys (whether that be impossible due to demographics or impossible due to some other crap) and just accept the waifish waifus, Yoshida might end up being pressured to okay the Viera. This coupled with the inability to make really a tough looking version of most of the races' girls is increasingly frustrating imho, like people aren't really showing concern for those of us who want a race with tough women (or the option to make the women of the races look tough) and end up putting out horrid bad faith compromise.
oh viera! yes, i would so like that, I have no idea why they didn't make female au ra as in the concept art,
viera's ftw
