basically the level range for solo is like equal level or maybe 1 or 2 higher now. Things have changed, but sp is boosted to match, except the finishing amounts, but the amount you ll get during is more. its not too bad really.

All they did was make it more correct, I was doing 5 star leves at 20 camps as a level 19 on some (2 level 34 mobs), when I "should" have just gotten there. All they did is make is so 3-4 levels about you mobs with groups are sorta-hard to live through rather than just running through the hardest setting when you just hit the camps level.
yes, there was.
I can't believe what I'm hearing from the complainers... "This madness is stupid! I as a level 1 conjurer can't solo a quest that clearly states meant for a legion of players 8 levels above me! This game sucks now!"
Not that I mind that but if you're gonna make a leve "solo only" then they damn well better make sure it's soloable!
Yoshi: What's that you say? Make leves harder?
leves take longer, but enemies give a lot mor exp so exp/hr is similar.
Don't understand the complains either. Leves were extremely easy and sp rewards were way too high.
After the patch they are still like 50.000exp/hr, but you have finally to do something for that.
Also people don't want to understand, that equipment actually matters now and i dont see people running around with full meteria rank 50 armor and ifrit weapons.
Bad gear = slow fights. That's how it works now.
I'd say we've been much better balanced in terms of one vs one combat (it makes sense for a mob the same level as you to actually act like a mob your level). However, a lot of leves pit you against 4-5 mobs at once (oh god the sheep and jellyfish) and even on 1 star as a 43 pug, I have to admit I'm struggling quite a bit. The changes make 1 vs 1 work like a dream though.
EDIT: I do love the new patch and the balancing to some extent. However, I think it does bring up questions that need to be addressed such as how multiple enemies should be handled? Maybe less content should feature battling multiple enemies at once or maybe we simply need some crowd control options beyond "ZERG LIKE A CRAZY". We also do have to give a little credit that they've attempted to redo stats from the ground up in an already existing system, so it might take a while to get it spot on. Anywho, long edit over.

The Ul'duh Inn is like an antique shop...full of crap and always closed."You don't have to say anything, I just look at your life now and work backwards." - Black Books
I just tried a level 40 company leve and got my rear end handed to me. It is pretty ridiculous for 60 lousy company seals.
:edit: Swarmed by 6 enemies at once all level 40? That is not challenging. It is impossible. Total fail on the part of the dev team.

To attract new players the content from 1 - 5 / 10 shouldn't be a struggle. It should be fun and a way of learning the basics of the game. Not sure how the tutorials are.
An idea might be to add low level rewards in form of gear low-lvl gear? Most new players (unexperienced FFXIV players) won't have gil to buy gear.
I like the new changes but I dislike it being harder for new and unexperienced players to join the game / have fun.
And for all those "this game is not about soloing blah blah blah". Come on... we live in 2011... An MMO made from the same recipe as FFXI won't last. MMO's need to have some solo content atleast when leveling.
