as a tank, if you don't tank or don't pull aggro off the others, and rather let them die, you're greifing and that's ban-able.
DPS are kinda griefing tanks if they're ruining your play by consistently pre-pulling. I am by no means saying that tanks are de facto party leaders and call all the shots, but it is their job to handle mob aggro and positioning, not yours.
yes, that's what tanks supposed to do. if they don't do their job, it's a griefing.
You're not listening. That is the tank's job, and if as a DPS you make their job difficult by pulling things the tank doesn't want to pull right now for whatever reason, you're griefing the tank. Ask him to pull more if you're dissatisfied with the pace of the run, it's always better to communicate than to ruin the tanks' play.
Sorry, but even if the DPS are being jerks and pulling mobs you should be at least trying to keep aggro on them. The mentality of 'well, you pulled it, its yours' is just stupid and all anyone else see's is a tank not doing their job. If it's something that happens consistently or gets you killed, then tell the party, politely, not to pull. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where the mob comes from, only that everyone is doing their job properly.
A tank who's not tanking, regardless of where the mob comes from, is not doing their job and it's no surprise they get kicked. Two wrongs don't make it right, so do your job and the blame for the extra mobs can lie solely on the idiot DPS instead of landing on your shoulders.
Never said I would - the only thing I'm discussing here is the impatient mentality of some DPSers causing us tanks no end of annoyance for no reason. I will of course pick up whatever gets aggroed, I would just prefer to plan and execute each pull myself.A tank who's not tanking, regardless of where the mob comes from, is not doing their job and it's no surprise they get kicked. My comment wasn't directed at you, it was intended for the OP who feels slighted because they let the DPS tank the mobs. I simply have no sympathy for players who put in zero effort.
I think you haven't read my OP entirely, as my situation was not regarding regular trashpulls as you seem to think. It was regarding the last boss in Halatali HM, and I had hardly said to the 1st-timer, who was happy for being explained btw, "After this pack a second duo comes out", my first sentence or the SMN ran in and pulled the boss. Phew... that was a long sentence... Damn these nuances that need to be made... xD
Anyway, I was actually putting in a lot of effort of making the run enjoyable for the 1st-timer, just like it was made enjoyable for me on my first time. I have zero problems with big trashpulls and what not, and we actually did that the entire dungeon quickly doing so without problems besides the duo pulling for me. I did catch agro of them quickly. The thing that did irk me though is that they often would be the one to initiate the pull, not pull extras, but hey, whatever, nothing I can't deal with.
Anyway, if I misunderstood you implying I put in zero effort, consider this response never made.![]()
