nope, your dealing with not only peoples time, but emotions, by explaining a fight or certain mechanic, your saying "hey this kills people has killed people, watch out for this, if you do die, you now have heard a typed explanation and observed the mechanic you'll get it next time, dont sweat it", this will help them learn a lot more efficiently. Using your logic, not only will the new person lose confidence, which can have a snowball effect, you can have other party members start bickering with that new person, once bickering and attitudes get involved, cohesion goes out the window, and anyone that knows shit about the real world, will tell you cohesion, and teamwork get shit done

Thus he teaches himself, that is how you played Everquest. I learned every fight in the game without watching a video or asking for help. It is pretty easy to just do that.
