That could work, although to some extent within FCs people already know who is willing to (or has time to) help others learn. Of course that doesn't help new plaeyrs who are not yet part of a FC.Anyone remember FFXI mentor system? You could put a little thing next to your name to show that you were willing to help new players learn the game. I doubt a lot of players would do that anymore. Too self absorbed in their little speed runs. We live in a day and age of people wanting instant gratification. There is no patience and no empathy for new players, despite them being noobs once themselves.

What does that even have to do with pulling extra stuff and praying your tank takes it off you? People that do that to me eventually end up dead, then kicked from the duty. I look at the party composition and gear at the beginning of the dungeon and decide how much I feel is safe for me to tank at once taking all that into account. I'll do a bigger pull if I feel the party can handle it, but if we wipe (unless it was just a dumb mistake and not inability that caused the wipe) or if the DPS seems hideously slow for some reason, then I'll go back to single packs. If you pull mobs by accident, that's one thing. It happens. If it's clearly on purpose, I assume that person wants to tank them. I've even gone as far as to go into Sword Oath to avoid taking the mobs back off of them while I help kill them.Rude to who? I wasn't speaking to anyone in this thread. Just generalness of tanks.
Tanks should be more like this.
I wasn't speaking to anyone particularly in this thread though. Just about people in general.
"You will not fear. You will not falter. You will not give a single step to the enemy."
Also, IG are weenies. Nuns with guns ftw.

As a fully fledged loldrg I know my role is to tank the floor while the tank tanks the mobs and bosses. You were just trying to let them know what's what and was cool about it; that's what it looks like to me anyway. Now, if you'll excuse me this floor isn't going to tank itself.

At this point you're being trolled by someone who has no tank jobs even started... >.> Lodestone check -- <Yes, please> -- though of course could say this is a new character alt with a main that has all jobs leveled to 60 and A3S cleared...and even then it wouldn't matter because they'd still be just as mean tempered and a detriment to the game.

Hey there guys!
While I appreciate all the thoughts being shared in here, I think the thread's starting to de-rail badly. On top of that, I think everything needed has been said and done. Thank you all for participating, but let's give the thread a rest now.![]()

Yeah, uhh... that's not actually teaching anyone anything, just so you know. When i'm on my healer in low level zones I just pull if the tank pulls too slow since it teaches him a lesson about fear. If he can't hold aggro it teaches him to get better.
All they're going to "remember" was that some derpski was running ahead of them trying to rudely wrest control of the pace of the run when it should belong to the tank and wasn't actually being helpful to them at all.Actions speak louder then words. Actions will be remembered far more then a random dude telling them how to play. Nobody remembers that but everyone remembers actions.
Anyone who goes and starts a fight while someone is trying to explain it is probably a jerk, regardless of who's doing the explaining or who starts the fight.I wonder would people be on the side of a DPS who refused to enter a boss fight because they were explaining something to another DPS. Especially if the fight had a DPS check.
It's just that the tank is most likely the one to be doing the explaining because the tank should be the one in control of the pace of the run.

In fact, Elixir Field has changed my game as regards mob groups. Now I usually fight them using only AOEs, excluding the steps to get back to Rockbreaker.I completely agree on the rest of the post but...
TBH even though MNK isn't in the realms of BLM or SMN with Elixir Field (220 potency AOE, 30 sec recast) now its definitely much more improved. Also with Purification TP isn't an issue for Perfect balance and Rockbreaker spam even though The forbidden Chakra is generally a much better use of the meditate.
It is still a net DPS gain for you to pull extra mobs with a MNK it's just less of a gain than if you went from single pulls to multiples when you have blms. DRG I can't comment on but as far as I remembered they were already better than MNK for Aoe DPS.

Ran Neverreap with War, Sch, Drg and Mnk (me), we just pull everything and AOE the hell out of it, everything dies extremely fast, we even pull the Treant + the 4 bees together and just burn it down with AOE. The AOE is sustainable through purification, mobs usually die before I run out of TP, even if they don't die they would be low hp and I can go back to single target rotation to burst them down quick.I'll keep that in mind in the future - I appreciate it. I'll ask around and see what people feel on it. It definitely feels like it'd help in Melee+BRD comps. DRG is good with AoE but it's not sustainable - and I imagine it'll be similar with MNK. Though skills like Geirskugal hit multiple mobs.

You ever wonder why DPS queues are so long? Read this thread again, that's why. Who would want to be a tank and voluntarily put themselves through all this BS. Most tanks really do only tank for their friends. It requires an INSANE amount of discipline to tank in DF and not let the lolDPS die when they complain it's too slow and pull extra mobs.
