Don't mind the botd style or even the random positionals [though I prefer if I can choose]. But there's no possible way I think I can deal with five more abilities come next xpac on my controller

After wod and the features they promised for that I doubt it will be that large a change. Hopefully they come out with content on regular intervals and not the lack of content the end of MoP and all of WoD had.Don't worry, change will come!
Blizzard is gearing up to remove homogenization from their game come Legion, making each spec play and feel different. If it works out, you can bet your bottom dollar Yoshi P will switch everything around just to copy and give each job an identity
Even as a keyboard player I can get behind the hope that they find a way to condense abilities especially as someone that plays mostly melee dps characters. DRG and NIN have tons of keybinds that are 100% necessary, I am around 20 on my NIN and 16 on my DRG (DRG only at 52). I cannot imagine more abilities without condensing some of them (like making DE part of a normal rotation instead of having it its own combo...like DRG have with their debuff).
The only real thing I see that urks me.. is that they seem to have made a reliance on using the same concepts over and over. If you're not managing stacks, you're managing a short timer buff all day long and they made the entirety of gameplay revolve around it. While I don't dislike this for an occasional class here or there it seems really fucking generic and tedious when they apply it to ALL of them. If you're a caster your thing is stacks. If you're a melee dps it's a buff refresh, or stacks. If you're ranged dps it's wtever they do I'm not even getting into it. Tanks get the same garbage but a different idea. It's almost like they didn't try, they found one or two ideas and just blanketed everything with it.
That's my only complaint. The rest of the OP's post is subject to speculation and/or opinion.
Chalk this up to their self-imposed UI limitations. I've yet to see them introduce a new resource system, for example, because it seems that to them every job has to have only TP and MP.The only real thing I see that urks me.. is that they seem to have made a reliance on using the same concepts over and over. * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
There's no challenge in the controls/class being inconvenient even after you've mastered them. Especially in an MMO like WoW and FF14.Dude, if you don't like it just play a different game. It's honestly not that hard to learn if you put some time in. Plus, there's a sense of accomplishment for a job done well when it's not just handed to you. I legit wouldn't play this game if I could just press three buttons and not move and do 10k dps. There's no fun in that and no challenge. So challenge yourself to actually succeed in the systems in place or look for a game with different systems that are more up your alley.
My mistake, thought this thread was about all the QQ on the forums.
I'm afraid to say I don't really care about any of the stuff you talked about in your post - no offense.
WoW obsession with raids is killing it.
To get to that level of "polished gameplay" and that amount of raid content, they sacrificed everything. There is nothing else worthwhile to do outside of raiding. Heck, they haven't even updated the seasonal events in like 3 years.
I came to FFXIV to escape from WoW's "raid or die". So no, I don't want FFXIV to become WoW.
If everything you mentioned means so much to you, please go back to WoW.
Most of what I mentioned have to do with mechanics and nothing to do with content.
There however -is- a dearth of content for people that don't want to farm the same thing for weeks.
Crystal tower et al ameliorates that a bit, but tbh it is LFR and I don't want to LFR for progression gear.

Like that means anything after WoD
