I honestly can't comprehend people picking up a Final Fantasy game and not wanting to do the story. Not being interested in its world, in its characters. Are you all that young that this is your first FF game, that you know nothing at all about the series?

The game is heavily based in the Main Scenario.

What could have made anyone think they could skip a HUGE part (From Praetorium all the way to the Scions' Fall) of the story?

That cause there two types of groups that play XIV there group 1 the final fantasy fans that are playing it cause of FF name and enjoy the story content and group 2 that are the generic mmo players and most likely care less about the story. I can see the two group clash together all the time especially when 2.0 first started.
