Yeah, this is incorrect. The quests get you to 53 easily. As someone who recently had to go through this I commend you for requesting a refund. I have time so I could easily get through the content and I read up on games a lot so I knew what to expect. They cannot continue to gate expansions behind 100 quests at a single level. Which by the way won't by itself even get you to 51 through quests alone. What are they going to do when the next expansion comes and the one after that? Allow those who like stories to continue on with those quests and others the ability to unlock the expansion after a reasonable amount of effort. 100 quests is excessive and not at all reasonable.
The exaggeration is real.
Not true I'm not sure if this link will work for you but here is my character http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...cter/11818519/
As you can see I've unlocked astrologian so I've gotten to heavensward. And my Scholar which I abandoned right when I unlocked the expansion is lvl 51.
100 quests at 4,800 XP gives you 480k. Not counting for the mobs you are killing for these quests and the roulettes you should be doing daily since they easily give you 100k per.Not true I'm not sure if this link will work for you but here is my character http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...cter/11818519/

It is story, not a power leveling spree. It's not meant to boost you to say...55.
You'll end up somewhere in the mid 52 range.

To be perfectly honest, I would not have refunded you. Kudos to SE for being nice enough to, but you didn't do any research, you just bought the game, assumed everything would just be given to you and wanted your money back. That's your fault not Squares. The minecraft situation with multiplayer was reason enough for a refund/suing. This? This was no one but you who made a mistake that you don't really admit to. :/ It sucks to say it but that's the truth. It maybe better to buy single player games that cater to your liking more.Square just got back to me about my refund for Heavensward. I bought the expansion upon hitting level 50 expecting to move on to Ishgard, etc etc. Turns out I still had to play through all the irrelevant lv50 content, but in the meantime of doing that I grew bored of the game and had no interest in Heavensward, hence getting a refund. Kinda felt scammed.
Such a shame. I was pretty excited when I hit lv50, but doing endless fetch quests for virtually no reward (4k exp at lv50) for over a month really killed the game for me.

If you disliked the 2.0 content enough to not even want to finish it, what made you think the HW content would be any different?
"I don't like this TV show so I never watched the second season, but I'm going to buy the third season anyway." Use some common sense here.

This is the best analogy in the thread yet.If you disliked the 2.0 content enough to not even want to finish it, what made you think the HW content would be any different?

1.0 was the first season - it had a decent story but bad production values, so they scrapped the cast and hired a new director. 2.0 was the 2nd season. 3.0 is the third season.
Even if you did have the magical ability to jump right to the third season, you'd have no effin idea what was going on if you missed the 2.55 season finale. But video games, unlike TV series, have total control over your viewing, so you couldn't even queue the 3rd season in Netflix until you'd at least fast forwarded through the 2nd season and skimmed it.
I liked 1-50 plenty. The lv50 MSQs have just been supremely boring and are basically pointless filler. The queues for the trials take hours. This is what ultimately killed my enjoyment of the game. Again, I'll repeat, I enjoyed the questing and the 2.0 storyline a great deal and was excited for Heavensward. If you disliked the 2.0 content enough to not even want to finish it, what made you think the HW content would be any different?

You got how far into the 50 MSQ? And you were bored? Ok. Again, plenty of analogies that pointed out why you'd have to go through. They're no different than fetch quests with boss fights and dungeon runs circa 2.0 if you're skipping cutscenes.I liked 1-50 plenty. Dunno, maybe 100 quests in? Alphinaud formed the Crystal Braves and a shipment from Coerthas was hijacked. IDK how far in that is, since no reference or context is given. I don't know about you, but I play for the story. Not filler content like 2.1 to 2.9 or whatever was before 3.0

If you play for the story, then you'll want/need to see 2.55 (especially the end) in order to continue on to Heavensward anyway. It isn't "filler" and it isn't irrelivent. If you play for the story, then why would you want to skip chapters just to move on to the next book?Dunno, maybe 100 quests in? I can understand being upset that jobs and certain other content may be locked behind the story progress, but I just don't see how getting a refund for HW is a productive solution. If you wanted HW content so badly, then why not just move forward and complete the story (which is what you play for anyway) in order to unlock it. No, you don't get the instant gratification that some may expect from an expansion, but it really doesn't take that much work to just grind through it to the end to reach that content that you really want.
Essentially, you complained about not having access to Heavensward at 50 due to the story quests, yet your solution was to make it so that you are now completely unable to access Heavensward at all....
Ultimately it is your choice on whether you want to continue playing or not, but it seems to me that if you went through the trouble of creating a post about how disappointed you were about HW access, then you care about being able to play the game. The only thing limiting you at this point is yourself.
