Your character was definitely around, he just wasn't sent away by Louisoix. There's plenty of really good RP opportunity to be had from living through the 5 years after the Calamity rather than just disappearing.Really it is a event item with a cool storyline, but if we look at it from a solidified lore perspective, the cases I stated above would contradict it. I would very much like to play my character as having experienced 1.0 events, even if I the player did not have the opportunity to be there.
So you missed it. That happens. I've wanted to attend a fan fest since XI but my financial situation hasn't exactly been accommodating in that regard, causing me to miss out on a large number of exclusive things both real and digital. But you don't see me arguing for Square to make those things available to me just because I'm supporting them with my subscription. I missed out, oh well. Maybe next time. This is the point. You missed out, oh well. Maybe next time. Do we not want tattoos in general, not hardly! We've been asking for more, and more importantly not attire-based, tattoos for a while now. But this particular tattoo is like every other thing that's been exclusive in the history of Square's MMOs, an exclusive. You missed it. Oh well. Maybe next time.
There is nothing at the fantest that was fanfest exclusive. The ingame codes were available for the masses to buy on twitch, and will likely be available again in the future. The various plushies and books are sold on the SE store, and I am quite sure if you really wanted the fluff items in the fanfest goodiebags you would be able to purchase them on one of many websites.
The only things exclusive in this game are the 1.0 items and preorder bonuses, and for all I care about they both should be made available, exclusivity causes nothing but a community schism and elitism
I have the fanfest in-game item. I could careless if you have it or not. It will not diminish my gameplay at all since you are not taking mine away from me, and if it brings you happiness to have it then by all means, this is a game meant to be enjoyed, not a better-than-thou contest. Do I think I am a bigger supporter of SE since I was able to buy the fanfest stream? No. I do not know your situation at the time, and I know that if you want it now, you probably did care and wanted to support it, but could not. Why should I punish you for RL not being facilitating?

There wasn't? Point me in the direction where I can buy a I beat primal tshirt then and don't mean from some guy on ebay. There is nothing at the fantest that was fanfest exclusive. The legacy mark, at least in my eyes, is more than just some lore thing you can buy for 99 cents.
Im sorry, and i know this is rude, but you are trying to roleplay player history.
I would at least like the option of being able to obtain the tattoo considering I played 1.0, bought the Collector's Edition, and supported the game monetarily for a time. I'm basically missing out on a potentially fresh perspective (because the tattoo actually changes the lore somewhat by having your character be revealed as the Warrior of Light before the Calamity.) even though I did everything other 1.0 players did but just not for some three-month period at the end of 1.0.
I'm not saying make it available on the cash shop, but making it available if you have 1.0 character data for that template would be nice.
This is pretty much what I mean when it was an event thing and not an exclusive 1.0 legacy supporter promise thank you apology thing.
It was an event item, during an event. Pretty much all of the events have been recurring and non-exclusive, I am not sure why this should be any different. It is a significantly game-changing and lore changing detail, not just a mount or a minion, but it literally /changes the story/ and history of your character, in a way that is very exclusive and quite hurtful to new players or returning players that were not online at that specific time due to whatever RL reasons.

Oh please! It is not at all hurtful to new players! The new players character rises to the same prominence as the old. You are still the hero of the age! And the one Eorzea looks to in its current time of need.
There was three months one had to be there to count for Eorzea's final days. You were not there, that does not diminish the newer characters, but you were not there, you weren't created there. Wherever you were during the calamity, it was not in the lines of battle.
And adventurers werent the only ones to survive carteneau either.

I'm not sure how the tattoo can be tied to those events... since there was no MSQ requirement. You could seriously be level 10 have gotten it. You were nowhere near the battle.....
Exactly, you could have completed the 1.0 storyline, had 1.0 CE and everything but had been on leave during the event time and not have it, or have been level 1 but logged in once and killed nothing but got it.
