PS3 1080p dropped to 720p after Aug 4th update

I updated my PS3 with the latest August 4th update. Went into game and noticed that everything within the game is now 720p. When I go back to the PS home screen and/or my Xbox home screen, i'm flying on 1080. I cannot change the specs in game to 1080. Any thoughts? Other than buy a PS4. This has not happened before until today.

I'm confused, I'm looking on the case of my physical ps3 copy right now and it says it only supports up to 720p, that's always been the case.

I downloaded the game from the Playstation Network and i've had 1080 this entire time (for about two months) given what my tv has said. Along with how the graphics looked compared to now. Even in the demo it was fine.

Maybe your TV was up-converting it to 1080p before?

It's always been output at 720p. Here's even a related article that explains the nitty gritty details about the PS3 version's graphics.

We see the [PS3's] native framebuffer coming in at around 1152x640 before this is upscaled to 720p.
