    1. Because impatient tanks and DPSes that don't realize healers need setup time (especially as an AST). Welcome to DF.
    2. No excuse tbh. Seems to be common for new WHMs. I will throw up regens and shields ahead of certain situations assuming the rest of the party doesn't run around like an idiot making it a pointless cast.
    3. No Swiftcast and keeping the rest of the party alive takes priority.

Great thing someone necromanced this thread back to life. Just to share that today a DK didn't wait protect or Stoneskin, so I took my time buffing all the party members and me while he pulled mobs and died. He left right after this, being replaced in seconds.

    1) I sometimes just don't notice. I'll look for names and notice that one of them is "Viewing Cutscene", then I'll stop. To be fair, though, I once knew a player named "Viewing Cutscene".

    2) That depends on what the situation is. If I know that a raid-wide AoE is about to hit and I know it won't do too much damage, I'll go on ahead and cast Medica II just so that everyone has a regen so that I can focus more on healing the tanks. I might even just do it beforehand so I can readily go back to doing something else. I decide on a case-by-case basis.

    3) I rarely ever leave a co-healer, or anyone, dead. In fact, the only time I will do so is if I repeatedly notice my MP dropping below 50% while they have near full MP, and they don't raise dead party members.

My biggest gripe with healers are those that believe the only way to heal is by looking at percentages. Every healer has their way of doing things, and I respect those that do it that way, but I disagree with it. 75% of a Paladin's health is not the same value as 75% of a Warrior's. If that Paladin takes a critical hit during a Coil at 75% HP remaining, they will likely die. A Warrior will not.

There's the speed demon tank issue that many others mentioned.

Otherwise, it might not be effective, but there's certainly no additional cost if it's at the beginning of the battle.
Some healers could just bored. It's like asking why people press elevator buttons for the floor that they want to go to again, despite seeing that it's already pressed. Still, I see little harm in it

    2.
Medica 2 and succor when only 1-2 members need healing still do something due to additional effects that are not just immediately restoring HP. Medica 1 is the only one that might be kind of dumb

    3.
Obvious reason would be not having swiftcast or prioritizing keeping the party alive before raising people (as you should)

But also, some healers are elitist or have ego issues and use it as a way of saying "Screw you, you F'd up and died, so I'm going to make it obvious to the entire group by leaving you dead. And look at how good I am solo healing.

    1) There seems to be idk a bug or a feature that in some cases it will actually apply the protect and/or stoneskin to people that are still being loaded in at times. Doesn't work on all but seen it often enough. Also most CSs aren't too long so hard casting a stoneskin II when loaded in usually makes te go off just as the last person leaves the CS and Duty Commences. If my co-heal or a paladin cast protect while I'm casting stoneskin 2 it's just that much nicer and faster. Can always cast a stoneskin on a stragler or two.

    2) My reaction to one or two people taking not too much damage and not expecting any serious damage tends to be regen and forget them.

    3) I will generally try and pop a swift res on my co-healer or anyone the first time it happens - or if I trust them(i.e. we know each other either pre made or just luck of the queue). But after the first time I will have to consider MP regen and other stuff.

I am gonna say, I cast stoneskin before the cutscene is over for people because I can. I played AST to 59, SCH to 50, and WHM to 43 and I heal fine, I keep everyone up and safe, I do overheal at times but I am a worrywort. If you have a problem then just push through it and try to teach someone, not complain. Other healers taught me about how to deal with anxiety healing by just counting on my own timer, watch health and relax.

Some players make bad decisions. In other news, the ocean has been found to be wet. News at 11.

The impatient tanks might be partly a symptom of impatient everyone. I have tried my hand on tanking recently and apparently if I don't run out as soon as I can, some dps do and they are in the mid pull when I get there after having waited for the healer to buff *shakes head*

As for casting befire people are out of CS, it's become bit of a habit to hit the Protect as soon as I load in so I have time to get it out before people run of. Only after that I pay attention to things like rest of the group or co-healer. At that point it's easier to let the protect cast go of than to cancel it, even if I have had a co-healer with similar reflexes. And as someone pointed out, with the cast time of stone shell, there is fairly good chance people pop out of the CS right before the cast goes of.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

You know plds have 20% reduction? A pld with 10k Hp and a war wiyh 12k Hp. Now a boss is gonna use a move, that unmitigated will do 10k dmg.
The pld takes 8000 dmg because he has a passive 20% less dmg buff, hes at 2k HP. The war takes 10k hp, because he has no such buff. The war has 2k hp. At the end of it all they really take the "same" amount of dmg.Just pld takes literally less damage and war out HPs the dmg

    Then take yor example.
The Pld will be taking less critical dmg from that move the the war will take.
Essentially if both are at 75%hp and a move will kill the pld, the same move will also kill the war

This is assuming both tanks have the same stat weights like vit and defense
