    Gear Damage Poll 10/04/2011

    NO QQ.

I've been very resolute in my opinion that there are very few things they can do to this game that could truly be considered deal-breakers; pretty much everything we complain about so feverishly is likely easy for us to adapt to in the long run.

Having said that, I've given it a year and I've earnestly tried very hard to adapt to the Gear Damage system. However, after my years in FFXI, I just can't get used to it. It feels wrong; feels out of place. The requirements it sets forth for time and gil input bother me, not on an "I can't make it work," level, but an "It feels wrong to be penalized this way." level. I hesitate to say it, but I don't think I'll ever truly get used to or accept it in FFXIV.

I appreciate all the work they've put into it, but having it completely break at 0% and having to blow through (5k) x (10) slots everytime I have an intense grind or failed event... (or grind all the crafts my job uses, and/or just make friends with people who pity me easily) ... It just feels so wrong, to me.

I just wanted to ask: How are those of you have never been in the "I like it!" camp perceiving it these days: Have you grown to accept it as inevitable and gotten over it, or have your disagreements with the system simply fallen silent?

In my opinion, it's a cheap gimmick that acts as both an attempt to legitimize crafters having unique, full-on, legitimate CLASSES and a gil-sink. How are you seeing it these days?
