That's slightly odd, the last part you said. On me the debuffs I applied myself always show as the first ones in the list. Wonder if it's some option I've toggled on.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
You don't understand.
They want to blacklist all that they do not apply themselves, but then allow a whitelist of select debuffs that other players apply. Other games have this, usually through UI addons.
For example, his Ninja.
Blacklist all debuffs not applied by himself, whitelist for Trick Attack applied by other ninjas, whitelist for Storms' Path. Blocks all other Warrior debuffs, and all dots by everyone else.

Oh I understood that perfectly fine. That was not what I was answering to though. As I said, what I was answering to was the claim that he kept losing his own debuffs in the list, as there is option to show them as first of the list. Wasn't saying anything about the rest of the suggestion. You don't understand.

Considering the number of abilities in the game, I don't think a "blacklist/whitelist" option would be practical. Why not just adjust "Show only my status effects" to include any relevant status effects that would impact that particular class/job? Like "Storm's Eye" and "Trick Attack" when you're playing NIN?
I don't personally play NIN, so I would like to know how other NIN's using Trick Attack impact you using Trick Attack? Does it leave a buff like "Immunity" when "Virus" wears off? Don't quite understand why it would matter unless something like this applied.

How about 4 initial options:Considering the number of abilities in the game, I don't think a "blacklist/whitelist" option would be practical. • Show all status effects
• Show only my own status effects
• Show recommended status effects <<--- your suggestion of ones generally relevant to your current job
• Customize status effect display <<--- brings up a sub-window showing everything for full black/whitelist control
That gives people as much control as they want while also giving people a simpler way to set the most commonly wanted ones.
