These changes do not fix the fundamental problem with Blind and other detrimental debuffs in XIV. (These debuffs are currently virtually useless outside of a small handful of situations thanks to DR and low durations). They don't fix our issues with block/parry and stat itemization either. However, it does fix the combo issue. It does fix the single largest issue with Clemency. It gives a secondary reason to use Tempered Will when knockbacks arent an issue but interrupts on Stoneskin are. Finally it gives a real use for an ability that was only a "TP saver" on 98% of fights. Giving a Block procced frontal AoE would do loads to help the job.
PLD is my main job, it's who I have always been in MMORPGs, but it has progressively lost it's identity. The tanks have been homogonized and I don't like it. Almost all our status attacks (debuffs) are useless because anything you would actually want them to impact is immune or virtually immune to them. We are supposed to be masters of the shield an sword, and yet when it comes to our shield all we do is hide behind the thing since so many thing ignore stuns and shield swipe lacks utility and seems to be more of a shield poke than swipe, a swipe indicates a sweeping action and suggests a frontal cone attack, what we get is an occaisional pointles shield poke.
Giving shield swipe more reason to exist and fixing the problem with debuffs (not a problem exclusive to Paladin), would be very helpful. Adding a trait to Tempered will to prevent interrupts would be great, though it might be seen as OP, so that should only impact one spell cast per use.
I support this. Excellent idea, since we are now the only tanking class with actual casting capabilities, it would only make that skill more useful in other aspects of the game where it's currently lacking utility. However, I'm not so sure that 10 seconds of uninterrupted casting is so OP on a 150 second cooldown. It wouldn't be able to be used for damage at all, just healing and stoneskin, since that's all we have. This is great idea. At most, you could get off 3 casts per use anyways, since Stoneskin and Clemency both have a 3 second cast time. That would come out to 2 Clemencies and maybe a Stoneskin, since the MP consumption of these skills makes them unable to be spammed anyways.
Error, using Awareness + Berserk + Bloodbath + Overpower in Multi-Target is pretty a standard. So is for PLD to use Flash + FF+BB+CoS.Whoa there. So let me get this straight...
In order to have more damage mitigation than a Paladins natural Block and Parry you're telling me you're going to pop Raw Intuition, Awareness, Bloodbath, Berserk, and Overpower spam at 130 TP? I think you're cheating now sir. That's like me saying "Hey, I'll just go ahead and cast a Clemency while you're doing all that. Bam, 6,000 damage mitigated. Four times more damage mitigated than all those abilities you just used on Warrior, no cool downs used!!!"
I never said Berserk + Equilibrium, so please do not mix up Clemency in this, At best, you can say PLD can use Bloodbath + Fight or Flight + Circle of Scorn + 2 Flash (you can only do 1x Circle of Scorn per Bloodbath. CoS = 100HP return per mob.
**I also never said spam overpower nor flash, i said 2x only, is 2 flash or 2 OverPower an overkill to hold multi-monster?
I210 shield PLD: 15,000 DMG * 22% = 3300 DMG block but it have 30.723%% chance to block: 3300 * 30.723% = 1013.859 + 0 HP return from Flash + 400 HP Return from CoS+BB =1413.859 reduction.
I190 weapon WAR: 15,000 DMG * 20% = 3000 DMG parry but it have 22.22% chance to block: 3000 * 22.22% = 666.6 + 1120 HP Return = 1786.6 reduction.
Even adding Fight or Flight + BB + CoS, WAR still doing better than PLD, and i am not even going to talk about Decimate and Steel Cyclone that cost 0 TP, the base idea was to compare WAR AoE enmity tool VS PLD Enmity tool.
For Raw Intuition, well hell yes they will use it on multi-target, same as PLD will use Bulwark and Awareness, there is no logic of not using them for both tank in multi-target scenario.

100% agree with you on that. If those change was made, i could careless about blind resist, and also careless about Flash doing 0 dmg since we get a Conal attack with Shield swipe.Stoneskin and Clemency need to not interrupt combos.
Clemency needs to be cast without interruption when cast on self.
Tempered Will needs to include "spells cast without interruption".
Shield Swipe needs to be conal and needs a 30s cd.
