Not sure any game fits that bill, MMOs just arent challenging anymore unless you do the Mythic/Savage raid... Seems the new theme of MMOs are "Raid or Die" as people that don't raid get bored fairly quickly. Right now I spend 90% of my time crafting/gathering in game. Not sure If i should start raiding or just go play something else lol :P

I think my biggest problem is I can't find the motivation to wipe to savage for hours on end when I already beat the bosses on normal mode

I second this. I didn't care much for EVE Online, but it fits the style of gameplay you described.

That said, you will need a very thick skin, a nose for troublemakers (scammers are a fact of life there, and as long as they're not exploiting bugs or otherwise breaking the rules, the GMs won't interfere), and a love of PvP in that game (they even have a saying: You agreed to PvP when you logged in).

Dancer is a physical hybrid melee/range class, not a true ranged class. I love it.

Hey there! Sorry to see you go, and hope maybe you'll stop in again to give new things a try.

As for other games, well, I like TERA, but for all the wrong reasons (if you have to ask, you're too young to know, lol), I'm looking forward to Black Desert on the PS4 though I know little of the gameplay, and I kinda like the pseudo-MMO types (i.e. the new Sword Art Online game Yoshida was in an interview with the director of, and the now dead White Knight Chronicles. That one was kinda my gateway game ). If someone loves me enough to bring the Ghost in the Shell MMO stateside, I'll probably never sit in a chair that isn't sticky ever again :P

All the same, get out there and find a game you really enjoy! Then tell me. I wanna try it too

i feel kind of same boat as u, i have goten the A1 S down to 16% enrage ( lack of dps as some died ) but since day 1 of trying it , everything feels boring , just adding lots of more dmg and hp on boss, and a green puddle that apears, but everythiing else is plain boring in this. specially since at some point we all gona play catch-up and gear up anyway what ever we want with the echo or uncapep tomes, we will have nothing to do at some point like end of 2.5 era.

i enjoyed crafting uptil redscripts, the rewareds compared to how much effort u got todo is so mimimal. and gill is uslesss unless u want to get a meduim or large house.
i still play this game and pay because i like the people i play with, and there is a social aspect and the story , music, graphics are very pleaseing. altho gameplay of things like FFXI was far superior and rewarding but the graphics dont cut it there anymore.

    1. It's really hard to choose what I like the most lol. Gear and world aesthetics, all-in-one class system, DoH and DoL, the main scenario quests and how you never run out of things to do (different logs are a nice touch).

    2. I haven't played many other games because I tend to commit my gaming time to an MMO, but I really liked Portal and Portal II. The second one had some kind of team play option to solve spacial problems but they are mostly single player mode. If you like raiding with a static, you could try WoW again. It still makes top quality raids and has a solid theorycrafting community if you like pushing your class to it's limits. The rest of the game is kind of bland though. Maybe the new expansion will spice it up.

What is your favorite thing about FFXIV?

Atmosphere, which is the combination good story, art and music.

Carbuncles. Always wanted to play a pet class with a cute pet. Given the prevalence of mascots in anime, I'm surprised it took this long. (Then of course SE not see they have a good thing on their hands, "removed" them completely after Lv 45.)

What game do you recommend I try next?

Not much out there really ...

Eve Online is very hardcore in the "dog eat dog"-sense from what I heard. It's pretty much a sandbox MMO where players do whatever they want. No main storyline to lead you around by your nose - it's the players that collectively write most of the story as they play. However, there is also no "government" to keep law and order.

I kind of wish there as an MMO that allowed a degree of freedom but with laws to keep things sane. Kind of wished that FFXIV would provide a little sandbox gameplay in addition to its story focused gameplay, side by side.

    (1) The people who said I did I did a good job. Be it commendations, or by direct communication. I tried to heal and tank well, via stance dancing/dps, and keeping people alive. It wasn't always easy, but I put in the effort. I've had a hard time adjusting to the XIV community as a person with in real life social issues.

    (2) I've been trying Elder Scrolls Online. Totally different atmosphere on consoles. Much more immersive, more in-depth lore and a solid base of IP in-place and to build on. Best PvP MMO no question. Lacking in some departments, but it's still in the whereabouts of ARR in terms of rebuilding.

What about the secret world online mmo? I have never actually played or seen it in action but every article I read about it raves about the quests in that game. Apparently it's a genuine mystery solving type of quest system, not the generic kill this collect that type of quests. It's a modern-ish setting though (like the clothes you wear look like irl clothes) so it's not my thing at all.

Currently waiting out on tree of savior myself. If that one's any decent I'll start playing that instead.
