Fishing, stats too high 4 fishing.

I find this so frustrating that your stats can be too high to catch fish, ATM Im fishing stormchase to lvl my desyth from 170 - 180, my fisher is using the artisan rod and body gloves n boots. my stats are G 413, P 351 n im getting bout 40 stormchaser per 100 lures. Why should I have to take gear off just to catch fish, how do our stats even work, because when I was fully geared the fish always escaped. Can anyone help explain this?

No, no one can explain it because it doesn't work like that.

Fish do not get harder to catch with higher stats.

You are working with an inadequate sample size and a run of bad luck.

Are you just not fishing during the right weather? Sometimes huge fish are just a pain in the butt to fish too. Some of the huge fish you catch for the ironworks rod still get away regardless of my melded up level 60 gear.

Well seems like to catch a fish you must have to pass certain gathering check, but it is just to be able to catch. Perception is like another check to can get HQ fish.
But there allways will exist a % fail catch rate no matter what stats you have.

Be sure to lower ur gathering to around 407- 412

Answering your comment, not need to for catch, im have Gathering 438 and Perception 353 unbuffed and really no trouble getting any 60* star fish so far, and fail to catch is random, often got 7-10 fish in a row and sometimes fail 4 in a row, i mean is the same with this stats or when im using food to enhance them a bit.
