Fisher End Game HQ Gear

So... I'm about to hit level 60 fisher and I want to know how important it is to get the HQ end game gear with melds when farming red scripts as well fishes to sell. I'm talking about these items:

- Birch Fishing Rod
- Serpentskin Bush Hat
- Serpentskin Vest
- Serpentskin Gloves
- Serpentskin Belt of Gathering
- Chimerical Felt Trousers
- Serpentskin Fringe Boots
- Dragonskin Choker
- Hardsilver Earrings of Gathering
- Dragonskin Wristband
- Dragonskin Ring

Given that the red script gear is better than the above equipment, is it worth the buy? How hard is it to endure the grind without these equipment?

Just a follow up question, it might have been different a couple of weeks ago, but it seems like a waste to spend my blue scripts on the Trailblazer gear... true? I'm level 57 atm.

If u have the money for serpertskin go for it as u will get better stats, but else traiblazer is a good option.

How long would it actually take to complete the red script gear?

It's 9 weeks for the full set. I don't have fishing leveled but I've spent a lot of time on Botanist since 3.0 and was reluctant to spend the money of full HQ Serpentskin and HQ tools at first. Eventually I got fed up with how slow my scrip collectibles were coming in so I forked out the money. I immediately wished I had done it as soon as I hit 60. It's a huge difference that will make your scrip turn-ins faster and less frustrating. Considering the time it will take to get red scrip gear, there's no reason to not do it unless you absolutely can't afford it. Again, this is from botany experience but I'd imagine this holds true for fishing as well.

Left side gear helps a lot.
It's quite easy to meld it to max gathering/perception for most pieces too, and you can avoid grade IV materia for pretty much everything, except head and body.

Right side gear (accessories), not so much.
I still use my old dodore stuff for MIN/BTN/FIS and there's nothing I can't gather.

Main hand is a must.

Sorry I meant for Botany and Mining, but yeah we do need something for fishing, We've been pleading for this for a long time....If they did add a tackle box for off hand, would make a ton and I mean a ton of fishers happy. All about keeping the customers happy right SE?

yes, the tackle box is a nice idea. BUT: why want all people an offhand? I don't want one. never. that the fisher has no offhand is one of the best things ever. bad enough we now need to meld GP, i don't want to spend millions of gil for an offhand and the materia melds :x
