Pretty much. :| SE likes to give a big "f you" to new players and to old players who have new characters.

Cosmetic, does not affect the game = it's fair game.

This is usually the standard in a free-to-play MMO.

Because they've only ever sold vanity items and it's as simple as not buying it if you don't like it? No matter what SE does people will complain. They put old items in the cash shop and people whine about having to pay money for vanity. They repeat events or repeatedly give the same reward and people will bitch about SE not doing anything new. They put them in a place like the Golden Saucer and people will complain about the MGP cost. They put them in something like ventures and people will fuss about the rarity. The list goes on.

This is so much crap. >_> 1.) I will definitely refuse to buy it, but that does not negate my anger at SE's business decisions. 2.) Your complaint argument here is a complete strawman. SE had a perfectly working system where previous holiday items were available for a small amount of gil; pretty much no one complained about that. Then they changed their system into something that pisses some people off.

It's all OPTIONAL, just don't buy it.

You don't NEED the cash shop to enjoy the game, it's pure vanity and cosmetic stuff.

This is such an illogical argument. SE literally removed content from the game to charge us extra for it. That is not something you should defend. And trying to argue that it's "just cosmetics" so we shouldn't care and doesn't affect us is absurd, when clearly people care about cosmetic items otherwise we wouldn't be upset and SE wouldn't put so much effort into releasing cosmetic items.

Not really suprised to see Thancred, Minfilla or the previous outfits but Emotes? Wow. O_o
Guess we know what might end up in the mogstation in the future.
Didn't think they'd sell emotes to you too.

Not surprising. It's zero development effort and at least some people will undoubtedly buy it, so it's pure profit.
