I hope this isn't the case... I keep thinking about that and just picturing Midgardsormr as a complete idiot... "The Ascians want to create chaos so they'll use the Primals... BETTER RELEASE A LOAD OF PRIMALS!"

I really want some answers out of that dragon... Guess we'll get Keeper of the Lake (Hard) eventually though...

Midgardsormr didn't just let them out. He was Keeper of the Lake for a reason. He was guarding the seal that was in Mor Dhona because of the aether. Once his battle with the Garleans was under way and he died along with destroying that great big battle ship the explosion broke that seal. So it was all by accident. With all that aether available it allowed Eorzea's beast tribes to summon the primals because of all the excess aether bubbling about.

I wouldn't write Valefor off as a prank just yet. If you pay close attention, it's mentioned they had something, but didn't bring it with them due to the difficulty of keeping it concealed. It's safe to assume they do have Lady Valefor (Canonically, Valefor is always female, as was her Fayth in X) kept somewhere. There were hints of extending the Doman Adventurer's guild story, and while Valefor may not be a primal, there may be a battle involving her.

... except there's already Valefor mobs in the Crystal Tower (specifically the Labyrinth of the Ancients)... though there's always the retcon option they went with in regards to Acheron / Phlegethon.

Those thieves presumably had something, but I seriously doubt it was a primal or anything of that caliber.

In regards to the thieves' "Valefor," I figured it was just them talking big to try and intimidate us. Of course, being a living legend who slays gods as a hobby these days, such things aren't going to work on us.

Anyway, this is about all we can do on that plot hook until it comes up again.
