I think we will witness the cataclysm first hand.

I played a top down MMO called Nexus: Kingdom of the Winds. I remember during "live" events, GMs would role play as PC NPCs and tell the players what was going on. A PC NPC "Princess" would be captured by a PC NPC "Rogue" and players would fight thru hordes of enemies to get to the castle. Rocks would fall from the sky in another event and when the event was over, the servers would go down. When they came back up, the terrain would be changed and you can see the devastation left behind.

Do PC NPCs sound familiar? We see it all the time in FFXIV. I hope to watch PC NPC Magiteck soldiers burn Gridania to the ground while I fight off Garlean soldiers.

THAT is what I am hoping they mean by "live". (live as happening now, not live as in "alive")
