    Since I use a localization language of windows 10 so I might not be able to name the exact one

    Anyway, another way of doing this is rt. click and select "property" then go to "compatibility" tab there will be something like compatibility mod or such just select the compatibility mode for window 8 and that should be ok.

    Same Issue for me, upgraded on Windows 10 and got the error. I tried all solutions so far, IE stuff, router reseting, Antivirus issues, administrator exe. Nothing works

    Thats fixed it for me, i turned off the Windows Defender in Settings > Update and Saftey > Windows Defender

    When i turn it on, the error comes back. When i turn it off, it works

    Just because I didn't see it in the list. Did you check if .Net 3.5 is active and current (disabled by default in the last few releases of Winblows)? Seen this fix some weird stuff in the past with web-based apps that also rely on IE like the launcher.

    I had this problem as well for awhile after i upgraded to windows 10. It stopped once i disabled windows defender and re-disabled windows firewalls. Hope that helps people who are at a loss. Id imagine running the FFXIV shortcut in administrator mode would of worked just as well, but that's the easy way out lol jk i just didnt think of it at the time :P

    You do realize, Windows Defender, is Anti Spyware/Malware (should be included in AV group)?

    It's definitely a firewall / access issue. As the reason it won't connect is because the webpage the launcher is requesting is being blocked.

    Windows Defender does seem to be one of the culprits here. Avast isn't causing me any problems when I try to start the game, but disabling Windows Defender fixed the problem. Hopefully this issue gets fixed either on Microsoft or Square's end as more people switch over to Windows 10.

    I want to try something out, this worked on my desktop awhile back when I was getting that same error and could not get in. My brother was the one that showed me this and it got me working great.

    Get into your wireless adapter properties start unchecking one box at a time and try each time until you are able to get through. Remember not to uncheck the "Internet Protocol" and "Link-layer". This will lead you to your problem if it is something blocking you, if it is a anti-virus plug FFXIV into your anti-virus so it can let you through. My problem was my Avast and it was in that list.

    I added http://fronter.ffxiv.com to my trusted sites list and chrome and it didn't work. Disabled windows defender, still didn't work. The entire time I couldn't get to the forums either. Then suddenly, it worked and I was also able to get to the forums at the same time. Also made sure there were exemptions in windows firewall for FFXIV, they were there but I created new ones anyways.

    Really stumped, nothing I do seems to fix it but the issue seems intermittent at times. Don't want to turn off windows defender because that's what microsoft security essentials has become in Windows 10 and that's what I use as my antivirus.
