Why doesn't everyone hate the warrior of light?

I mean, he's better than you at everything.

Imagine you're one of the millions of people in Eorzea.

You're captain of the guard, then this guy comes along and in a day does your job better than you do.

You've worked as a chef your whole life and in a week this guy is cooking for the sultana.

Noone buys your furniture anymore, cause this guy can churn out 100 desks an hour, make from organs taken from gods.

Haha, good point. xD I think this'd be like hating Jesus or other religios figures, though - the Warrior(s) of Light is essentially Hydaelyn's chosen who will deliver the people from evil, furniture monopoly be damned.

It's because we are primals and we temper everyone we meet.

I think we are due for a "everything goes to shit, for real" scenario. WoD beats the piss out of us, triggering loss of faith in our ability to steamroll everything.

There are a few elements at play here. Though some may not RP it, the Warrior of Light is presented in the story as a pretty humble individual. We don't brag, we don't act as though we are better than everyone and we are willing to do simple tasks to help average people out. We will go out of our way to help a poor refugee as quickly as we will lend aid to a king.

There is bound to be jealousy, but at the end of the day we are just damn nice. It makes us hard to hate. The times that really changes is if your exploiting others since chances are we will mess up everything for you.

I can see the WoD beating us at some point which might give people a crisis of faith in the WoL but I don't see that breaking the WoL. S/he has show tenacity already. It will probably take more than one beating and people doubting to drag the WoL down.

We aren't primals cause it's easy to detect a primal. The Scions have methods to detect them and on top of that they give out a particular signature which is why we were sure Moggle Mog and Shiva were primals.

On top of that tempering isn't a passive ability. Primals have to actively temper people. We saw this in both our interactions with Ifrit and Garuda and it matches Koji Fox's info on how the Company of Heroes fought Titan and Leviathan. They effectively had a wave 'absorb' the tempering and then used a second wave to occupy the freshly tempered first wave while a third wave attacked and took down Leviathan. Such a tactic could only work if Leviathan couldn't just spam tempering.

"100 desks an hour" An hour of their time is only two minutes and fifty five seconds for us. I don't. That aside, not everyone is the type of person to get mad when someone is better than them at something. In fact, that's not even most people. Add on the fact that we help the majority of people for practically free and well, how could they hate you. We downed Ifrit for 283 gil. WE MURDERED A PRIMAL FOR 283 GIL! Oh and some crappy wrist guard.

If the Whitebrim soldiers couldn't hate us after the drk50 quest, how can normal people?

To be fair, that was an exceptional circumstance.

... but yeah, nobody consciously hates you except bandits because you constantly pull their asses out of the fire.

And this is the reason why the Leatherwork crafting story quest (1-50) is my favorite, simply because the guild master doesn't cover you in praises when you turn in your very first craft, she is the first one (and only?) that made me feel somehow like a normal crafter/person, telling us quest by quest that we are making progress while still criticizing our work, instead of doing like the others and crying by how gifted we are and saving their life. Honestly I felt bad for that poor hyur NPC in the Bismark that works so much more than us and yet we're always better.

I really wish SE would continue working more on giving us a 'choice' reply more often, even if it doesn't change the story just making me feel like my character is less of a perfect saint would be great imo :/
