Thavnairian Headdress is poorly designed

Aww, I like the male headpiece.

Same. It's the closest thing to the Sha'ir set from FFXI so far. Acquiring the set (mainly the manteel) is one of my fondest memories from the game lol. Finally getting that unique looking set that only a couple others at most had on the server had... until Aht Urhgan.

I didn't even realize the Thav head piece had a gold band in the front. I thought it was just 2 cloth flappers on the back sides of your head.

And I have tried it on many times.

I can see why this is worth taking a look at, maybe some adjustments can be made to help, but I think this is to be expected to some extent. To avoid all clipping would severely limit what kind of armor the developers can create. I'd rather have variety, with clipping, than the alternative. FFXI had very little clipping, but that was only achieved by having characters stand in awkward positions and by keeping most armor roughly the same shape and size. The variety we find in FFXIV is possible, in part, because they allow some clipping to occur from time to time.

I don't have any screenshots but one of my good friends actually had one made for me tonight.
It dyes like the chest piece. It dyes the color you choose and different shades of that color. So a monochromatic look. It's nice :3

EDIT: It also doesn't clip horridly like the female headpiece does.

Valerian Shaman's Temple Chain is similar, there's stuff on the sides that gets hidden by my hair, but forehead is free so iit looks good.

Circlets are the main reason I say F bangs.

I'd prefer if the forehead part wasn't visible through bangs at all, rather than being moved on top of the hair... but that's mostly just me not liking forehead things, lol. I got the headdress mostly for the frilly part, I like to pretend they're like little bows under my Miqo'te's ears.

The frills do look really odd, though. :x Is it like that with all the Au Ra horn styles? Or is it just that particular one?

And yeah the male counterpart headpiece is awful looking.



They probably designed the thavnarian headress with a lalafel in mind tho.



(I dont know what it looks like on other races...so im assuming people dont just like the dress for the hype and have actual taste. Because otherwise I dont really get why they dont like it )

Yeah. I was real surprised to see only few of these selling on my server. It's the best looking piece, on par with the dress itself.

agree with you op but don't agree with the rest of the set being correct.

I made a thread in the suggestions section with pics as well regarding the stiff ..unnatural flare of the body piece. That too needs some love ^^ From the side the chest piece looks very silly which is why I wont make it for now. However I do like the rest of the set enough to have made it.

Hopefully they design gear to be more realistic to hang/drape while wearing it not sticking out almost 45 degree angle looking like cardboard!

agree with clipping issues for this though and with many other pieces of gear
