PC 5 yrs died on me. MB broke down so what about my macros, keybinds etc?

What about keybinds too. Hud and macros.

Reason I'm asking is because I have a new pc rig coming in on Friday since my 5 year old PC died on me a few days ago. So basically new motherboard and the ssd will have to be reformatted to work.

So my question is the title and the first line. My brother says I can use his docking station and retrieve the necessary files if I really need to. Do I need a special folder that saves that information ( macros and keybinds and hud if possible )

If there is a special folder I need please let me know.

You will need to get into your user's document folder. By default it would be "C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents". From there you would go into the My Games folder and then the FFXIV folder. The default full path would look like this:

    C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

There will be folders nested in there that start with FFXIV_CHR. The remainder of the folder names will be a long hexadecimal number. There will be one for each character. Each one holds all the config, macros, etc. for one character.

There will be a Screenshots folder there too you may want to grab if there were any you wanted to save.

You should also see a couple of files in the root of that folder as well: FFXIV.cfg and FFXIV_boot.cfg (may not see the .cfg on the end, depends on your file view settings). FFXIV.cfg will have all the graphics settings and such--the things you change in the System Settings Graphics and sound settings panels...things like your windowed/full screen mode, shadow settings, AA/AF, etc., so you may want to grab that file just in case. The FFXIV_boot.cfg file has the things like region, language, etc. that you will be setting up when you install again, so you can probably ignore that one.

You can just restore the data into the proper path under your "My Documents/My Games" on the new system once you have the game installed again.

Not sure how effective backing up and restoring the installation folder will be now, but you could give that a whirl as well if you have the space on an external drive (will need about 20GB for it). XI would nest a lot of the particular expansion data in separate subfolders, so it was very effective at reducing the post install version check/update process. Not sure how much of an impact it will have now that XIV has had it's first expansion now. The default location should be here:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn
