    No motion fishing / gathering

    I enjoy fishing in most games I have played, that offer it. Especially MMOs, as you typically can form bonds with people fishing at the same docks as you. In Final Fantas XI when they added the motion to the fishing line, I was even more hooked(and further revisions followed though I quit before CoP.)

    What this game is severally lacking, that each installment in the series offers(usually multiple) is minigames. I have argued for tetra, triad, or unique card game since beta. While fishing, mining, botanist right now has its practically identical gathering mechanic. What it lacks is fun in my opinion.

    I assumed this would be addressed eventually, and it was! It said we would not be getting motion type gathering(unless I missed the part where he mentioned that only being temporary) he said we would not be getting it.

    You may notice I have not touched fishing in this game besides beta, because I was saving it for motion controls. What could be the reason behind him not wanting to revamp it. Is the community satisfied with the control scheme for the long haul?

    Sorry if this sounds like more complaining, but I am just let down, and stick with mining until he changes his mind

    tl;dr - would you like to see gathering(fishing, mining, botanist) have a revamped motion control through directional input through keyboard, mouse, or controller. Each unique to the job. Or would you be fine with the one we have now for more than another year?

    So you mean No Minigames, Direct Reward?
    Nah man, I like the minigames, and for that you can be satisfied with the Secondary Tool, so you can dig jewels, gig fishes and harvest.

    Why do I like the minigames? Because it's the peaceful activity for when I don't want to kill things, so I get full up with Calm and fill it with Bloodlust again by killing monsters after =)

    Why don't I like direct rewarding? Because it's boring. Like "woo. bone chip +3." instead of "Whoah! Bone Chip +3 babe!"

    Sorry, where in there did I say no to minigames? I would like to correct that.

    I am saying the copy/pasted minigame we have currently for gathering is not very fun.
    I will use FFXI Fishing as an example of what I would like(I am sorry if you hate hearing about 11)
    When they revamped it, a fish would pull your line one way, and you would have to fight it by tugging the opposite way, while also trying to push up or back, to reel it in closer until you get it. There is no direct rewarding? You can still have the fish steal your bait, lose it through losing the minigame, or line snap. THIS IS WHAT I WANT. And each gathering job to have its unique take on it. Since there is only 3 this would be the easiest to tackle. I also think crafts should be unique(look at how cool different crafting minigames are outthere) but there is so many of those, and so much things to make so I could live with those being held off

    I would like to see something like this implemented. Not just for gathering, but crafting as well. As it stands both systems are incredibly boring. The OP's system would be good for gathering, while I'd personally like to see a DDR-esque system put in place for crafting.

    Progress to 50 in a DoL before you decry the current system, the only way I'd be comfortable with a system like FFXI's fishing for each of the DoLs is if they drastically reworked the progression from 40-50, in FFXI there were always fish above your skill level to make it easier to skill up even to 100, our current DoL system in FFXIV has the highest xp base set at around 40, and that's all you get through 50
    imagine the system in FFXI, only you had to gather up 2,000 fish between 98 and 100, and from what I recall there were only a couple non-legendaries you could do that on
    did you fish up all your Lu Shang's carp yourself?
