    DPS Check Trials

Easy way for players to check if their damage output is good without introducing parsers. Feedback is helpful for newer players.

Have several tiers of guildheists (that award 0 xp) that are basically training grounds with a target dummy. Player has X amount of time to do Y damage and complete it.

It could also be fun to have some of the dummy values to be difficult or impossible to clear with the current gear. It would offer a goal for players to work towards.

Current dungeons, trials and raids all have DPS check fights as it is that players can get into with their linkshells, fcs and friends in general. If they can't pass the enrage timer, their dps is to low.

This is true. I agree with Viviza, but I think it should be done in the form of single-player instances, not party trials. Healers, tanks, and over-geared DPS often make up for one DPS that is lacking in a party, even when synched.

The real issue is with how DD are designed in FFXIV:ARR, and is not a failure on the part of the player base. DD has been a consistent issue from release, and there have been a ton of DD checks all over the place. The problem is that the DD rotations are so intensive that they undermine the ability of the player to adapt to changing conditions. Until the fight is so well known to the party as to be practically on rails, DD cannot optimize their damage output. I have to do warm up sessions on ninja before I jump into dungeons just to make sure I'm doing everything right. I've never had to do that in any other MMORPG I've played. Checks can only be made if everyone in the group is following the exact same strategy. A random group will have issues on the hardest fights no matter if it is party finder or duty finder because they may be used to doing different strats, so DD get distracted and damage output goes down.

I've observed this pattern in every raid I've joined since release without fail. It didn't matter if it was a group in a party finder, a static, or a totally random duty finder group. I've played as a tank, a healer, and now damage dealer during raids. There is a light and day difference in my ability to pick up mechanics between being a tank and a DD.
