System-> Character Configuration->Control Settings->Filters->Enable Target Cycling->While Weapon is Drawn->Minionsre: accidentally clicking on minions when the enemy list is full of stuff -
Unless I'm plain unaware of the option, making a macro to target a specific enemy is not possible. /targetenemy just targets the nearest enemy and /target only works on PCs. Therefore for minions in duties to work in a large aoe situation where you have to find the needle in the haystack (eg A2S) they would have to not be targetable at all.

I don't use a controller, and even if I did, target cycling through 8+ mobs when you have a 4 second window to yoink a bomb out of the wiggling mass is sketchy at best. I'd rather click a nameplate. If minions were allowed in duties and still were targetable, that might be a serious targeting issue .

Have suggested this many times so far to no avail yet...
So i gotta /sign for this change![]()

During the closed beta phase, shortly after minions were added, it was possible to summon them in a duty.
It became evident VERY QUICKLY that it wasn't a good idea, increasing the number of selectable targets and general clutter made battles very, very annoying to deal with. Requests to send the minions away were made, and arguments ensued. Devs were sent feetback, and shortly thereafter duties became a no-minion zone and everybody went happily on with their lives.
So, have you ever stopped to ask yourself if, you can't summon minions in dungeon, maybe there's a reason?

Yes, obviously. It's just that that reason makes no sense to me. Did you read the thread? Because ways to declutter and avoid targeting issues have been discussed.
Also I'm sure some were not happy with the change since you said there was arguing over the matter. But it's also obvious which side you stand on. Have you ever stopped to ask YOURSELF if maybe there's a way to handle it, especially now that the game is long past closed beta phase?

remove minions from your tab target options. you can only have 4 minions per 4 man and 8 per 8 man, how hard could it be, anyway? in most instances there are hardly ever more targets than you can select from the enmity list.During the closed beta phase, shortly after minions were added, it was possible to summon them in a duty.

other games have minions available at any time and have the potential for up to 30 players in one instance and it's never really a problem. in your own personal raid you could simply make a no minion rule if you have a tough time not clicking minions instead of mobs, not saying you do. honestly more likely to target a friendly player than a minion. and i was in closed beta, it didn't seem like a big deal to me then and doesn't now. should be simple even to make every pet an obey pet instead of a free-roaming one in dungeons if it's really that difficult to select a hostile target for some people.
ya stick in the mud! just kidding. I think it is fair that if people want to have minions visible during instances or with chocobo out (while we're at it, let us choose our mount while the chocobo is out or queue for dungeons, but that's been discussed to death by now) that players could have an option to hide minions or at least other player minions to minimize clutter or whatever they like.

Call me a stick in the mud if you will, but I'm in no way interested in seeing your minions during an instance. Provide an option to hide minions so I can minimize visual clutter.

Well I'm in no way interested in seeing you during an instance!
Some people just hate fun for the sake of hating fun. Good lord.

Sorry if I came off as brusque, but I gave my opinion and simultaneously gave a solution to help anyone that was like minded, seemed fair to me. I never said you couldn't have your fun, heck, I even said you could call me names. Just provide me an option so I'm not forced to see it if I so choose.
