What kind of storyline would allow for a Dynamis-type series? [SPITBALLING]

Having played FFXI and left it behind since ARR dropped, I think a Dynamis-type concept wouldn't be beyond the pale in Eorzea provided a suitable storyline were provided to justify it's existence.

Example: What's to stop the Ascians from recreating our world in their own warped image, with Beast Tribes replacing us as inhabitants of each city-state? Could you imagine Limsa Lominsa run by Sahagin and Kobolds? Sylphs & Ixal in Gridania? Amalj'aa in Ul'dah? Let's take it beyond that: Gigas in Coerthas or Gnath/Vanu in Ishgard.

If I'm remembering right (its been a long time) Dynamis was supposed to be some sort of dream world so it wouldn't be a stretch for the Ascians to make something like that, I figure.

Personally, I think it would be cool to have an 8man dungeon-raid hybrid that takes place in Gridania/Ul'dah/Limsa. Wouldn't it be epic fighting in the streets of Ul'dah? You can't tell me that wouldn't be epic.

You would need a dreamworld like states and something for the "Forlorn Vanguard/Kindred."

The Forlorn Vanguard, in ffxi, were basically handpicked from the beast races and trained to be the Shadow Lord's elite troops. The kindred, well, they're what demons called themselves.

Ah! There were also Nightmare mobs, basically covering the wildlife in other areas.

Demonic Voidsent can easily cover the kindred, but Vanguard Ixal/Kobold/Amaljaa may need some storytelling lore.

Honestly they could just do a series of past events as being brought forth by the echo since it allows us to see and experience things that have happened. Something like Echo of Carteneau that places you on the battlefield against the imperials while a timer represented by Dalamud's descent in the sky lets you know how long visually you have in the instance remaining.

Could do a whole "Echo of ____" series of raids/whatever. Echo of the Magi War, Echo of Ala Mihgo, etc etc.

Yeeeah, that reminds me. What happened with the Echo, anyway? It didn't seem to get much (any?) use in the Heavensward quests, did it? It'd be a suitable excuse to explore some past battles or a dream-like world, with a bit of lore nudging.

It gets used in the Heavensward story a few times. Like

when you're viewing the aftermath of the slaying of Nidhogg from back in the day

. Flashbacks like that are a result of The Echo.

Hm...well, considering that

part of the Binding Coil was just a projection of what Bahamut saw, some of which we can actually see in Azys Lla

, I wouldn't say it's beyond the realm of possibility. If he was able to do that, then I don't see why others could not produce similar effects.

Honestly, the ending of 3.0 story lends itself to a "Dynamis" like scenario with the reveal of a new player that we'll hopefully learn more about in 3.1 such as where they came from and why they are with who they are.

Because it was a fairly fun activity that didn't restrict participation to a small group but could be done with a single party if you wanted to. The only downside to Dynamis was the duration and extremely low drop rate on certain items.
