    SE going to gamescom...

SE rise in subscription numbers since a whole shot in the foot Blizzard did with WoW over the course of the last few months.

WoW down to 5.4M subscribers. Loss of 4.4M since their last expansion Warlords of Draenor released.

Blizzard to announce new expansion at Gamescom
Blizzard forum posters pretty much up in arms at how blizzard is handling the situation.

SE Going to gamescom...i see someone at SE was paying close attention to the subscription levels at Blizzard.

This is your chance SE, you welcomed with open arms multitudes of players from WoW, here is your chance to claim even more! MAKE IT COUNT!

Since when was Square in dire need of more subscribers? I rather see what Square has in store for 3.1 and beyond.

    More subscribers = More money
Money that can be invested in additional staff, development team, ect. More content, more of everything players ask for. That's what can come from it.

If they were giving us what we asked for, 3.0 would have had some new form of content (*cough*anything open world*cough*) instead of rehashing the same Hunts everyone complained about throughout 2.xx and the same predictable 2 tome grinds, primal and one raid. Who knows, if they had a massive new influx of subs maybe they would get on that but I doubt it.

Don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the frequency with which they have content updates but getting the exact same thing every 3 months is really boring.

But why not at least try. If i was a executive or ceo i would be jumping at this chance.

As far as "new" content. Look at a lot of the MMO's out there. Quests can only be so unique. You design one and now you want to try and create 500+ quests that are all completely different from one another? No, not going to happen.

For the "anything open world" This is not meant to sound sarcastic or belittling, it is a genuine question. What would you design for an outdoor adventure or quest. Start to finish what would it entail?

Those details and when i say details not the, well i would do something with X, no a completely thought out with NPC dialogue and everything type details would you include in that quest to make it stand out from all the others?

Those are the types of posts that will stand out and possibly get attention. I honestly would love to have pages upon pages of this thread be about all kinds of unique quests. The community of all types of MMO's can have a wonderful mind when it comes to that sort of thing. Please anyone feel free to share your quest or adventure your would design here.
Follow lore, follow the rules of the game.

Honestly this is why I'm so sad there's still no real concrete news about a Korean MMO called Peria Chronicles. Literally one of the biggest features of the game is not only can players build their own towns, but they can also design their own quests that actually give rewards if players complete said quests. At least that's the developers' goal.

I am thoroughly enjoying FF14, but if that game ever comes to light and proves to be a success, I hope it makes other developers be more willing to let players have some control.

That said, I agree. I hope that Square announces something that will help draw more people in. But seeing as their focus seems to be FF15...I'm not too entirely confident on that.

Many MMOs have zones with "elite" monsters. Open world areas with monsters that require a party to kill. When they announced Heavensward would have a "Sky" theme and showed videos of multiple players attacking dragons I could hardly be blamed for expecting they had something in mind like the Ru'Aun Gardens from FFXI (aka Sky). If you never played FFXI, it was *the* endgame zone for the expansion. Endgame linkshells had to camp Notorious Monsters or farm items off the trash there to get the spawn items for the bosses that dropped some of the best gear in the game. And reaching the final fight of the main story was actually dangerous and difficult even when relatively geared. I realize that unlike FFXI, gear in FFXIV is a commodity so such a thing may not have the same impact.

They could have made Elite monsters an alternate way to level (since some people do enjoy that method of leveling, at least occasionally) or a way to add the large party content that raiding FCs have been clamoring for. Something like various members would need to camp FATE's (or some kind of hunt on a short-ish timer?) in the zone for items to pop bosses that only they could attack and that required 24 semi-coordinated people (or maybe 8-man and 24-man versions with better/more loot in the 24). And as a bonus, such a thing would have quelled the complaints that "There's no danger in the world" by providing an area with REAL danger instead of the watered down version they gave us where mobs have slightly more HP/damage.

Every MMO is in dire need of more subscribers all the time.
Unlike singleplayer games the amount and quality of content is equal to the amount of subscribers I believe (or it atleast should be).
