Broil MP cost intended? (question for Dev)

Currently Broil at level 60 is 170 potency for 530 MP per cast - 3.12 MP per potency

Stone III - 2.52 Mana per potency at 210 - 530 MP per cast

Malefic II - 200 Potency - 530 cost at 2.52 Mana per potency.

I am not asking for a potency boost for obvious reason on SCH but the mana cost is a tiny bit overtuned I think. especially if you dps on SCH a lot.

Considering you have better MP management, the cost isn't bad.

Especially since you can bane all your dots. If I could apply my dots to everything on WHM or AST, you'd see how expensive that would cost. :P

I never really have an issue spamming broil thus far... yes really.

Put it up with the full motion of DoT spells and just enjoy putting out formidable numbers. Use energy drain if need be, I know I do.

That's why you use energy drain to get back the mana used for broil. If I have the stacks and know the tank is going to survive while I dps a bit. I place DoT's then broil and energy drain at the same time. Sch mana regen is ridiculous, and I think Whm/Ast are jelly about that.

It's not meant to be a direct upgrade like stone and malefic, it's mp inefficient by design and you're supposed to decide if you should be using it or ruin on the situation.

Disagreed, ruin has little to no use at level 60 (Although ruin 2's insta cast still has it's merits if you need to move but don't need to refresh bio/aero). The only time I'm ever hurting for MP as SCH is if I'm spamming blizzard 2/adlo/succor or *really* being stretched for single target healing (aka the later half of A2S). Energy draining whilst pushing dps easily offsets Broil's inefficiency even on encounters where I'm often spamming broil rather than refreshing dots (aka Ravanna).

SCH dps is more about dots than nukes, broil simply follows that trend.

In practice that doesn't really surprise me, but that's the intent at least.

Broil makes me feel like I'm actually using the massive MP Scholars get. Otherwise most of it goes unused most of the time. I don't mind the cost.

It's not overtuned in the slightest. WHM and AST do not have access to the 5 DOTs (including Miasma 2 and Shadow Flare) that SCH has access to (6 if you cross-class Aero) so that is why the potency is slightly lower; WHM and AST rely more on direct nukes and so their nukes are a little stronger.

It's also tuned around the fact that if you properly manage Aetherflow that you will never run out of MP (unless you have to rez people or resummon fairy a bunch for whatever reason)

They've got better DoTs and better mana magement overall than the other healers, so it makes sense in the end. It's just there to fill in one of Scholar's weaker points (single target damage after DoTs), not compete with other classes.
