Tank and healer dps is only really required in savage. Which is the highest content which is supposed to be challenging and demand more then the average from everybody. If you need extra dps in ravana and Bismark you need to look at the actual dps in the party. Have cleared both with 3 tanks and 3 healers for the hell of it. The dps check is laughable

Exactly my point. I've been in parties where they have straight up told me in Bismark EX that I need to DPS because we wouldn't be passing the checks otherwise. Rudely too. I did so, but then the other healer got overwhelmed. Plus, it's not truly needed for me to DPS so much if everyone is properly geared. Not my fault that they aren't and don't blame me for not passing. I can see Savage requiring it though.

    Even there, it shouldn't.
Savage would be better, IMO, with mechanics that challenge tanking (and healing), not "doing more DPS".
Every thread I see for tanking in savage is : "Here's the HP threshold, here's the CD rotation, now do the maximum DPS while following it"

I'm sure there are ways to design a fight where tanking is challenging (Swapping, picking adds at the right time, positioning, keeping aggro on multiple targets, etc, etc...)

I won't really talk about healing at high level, since I don't have a lvl 60 healer.

Bismark EX challenges tanks when it comes to the two dragon adds that give the blue and green debuffs. Gotta swap at the correct time and keep them positioned well. But once you get the mechanics down for that, it's super easy.

You don't need to do crazy tank dps in savage, it wasn't designed that way.
You don't need healers to dps in savage. It wasn't designed that way either.

It was designed for a specific amount of damage, determined to be achieved at a specific item level range.
We don't have that item level range.

When you are undergeared for content, as everyone was at the start of savage alexander, then dps of every parry member matters. It always has, and it always will.

Naturally this is what happens when you rush into extremes with DPS too weak to do this on their own, on opening week.

Now in addition to the sorry state the playerbase is in, the game being DPS to Threat, DPS to Win, And DPS WTF is healing, the total lack of information, the continued lack of direction from the stupid combo system and the same obnoxious crap all DPS must do to do any real damage, how unwilling, clueless, insecure, and difficult the playerbase is at doing something different or even understanding the game's faults or even taking a hint, hell they make stuff up too, and how the training wheels for the entire ride until the extreme content remained so that scrubs feel their bad job was a good job even after 60 levels in the game. All of this are easily the most toxic things about this game and a good share of this is actually the game's fault.

Tanks shouldn't have to battle the system to keep threat, they should be battling to stay alive as they protect the party. The threat multipliers should never be this low. I don't care for challenge for the sake of it, and this isn't a challenge!!!
DPS shouldn't have to fight the system to deal damage. All of the melee DPS shouldn't be forced to use the combo system and positional with a ton of setup. MCH/BRDs shouldn't be almost the same. BLM/SMN are the only two DPS with any uniqueness to their game.
Healers shouldn't EVER consider DPS, cleric stance is easily the worst thing about this game as a whole. SO we're stuck with healers who snooze, cry about not DPSing, and must be told to LB3 when they should know to do it when more than 5 players are dead.
