Not only that, but you don't even need party content for people to want classes to be balanced, or else you'll get things like: "That Archer can kill X way faster than my Lancer", "Conjurers can keep themselves alive much easier than my Rogue", etc, etc.
People complain about needing nerfs and buffs now, that kind of thing is always present. If this was a serious PVP game, I'd agree.
With the addition of the three jobs with no class, I was hoping SE was axing the cross-class system for something better. Nope, still here, still useless, and still fodder for people to argue what job customization looks like. It's really the only game with the system in it that I don't like.
LOL. Removing it won't stop people from asking for customization.People complain about needing nerfs and buffs now, that kind of thing is always present. If this was a serious PVP game, I'd agree.

Go ahead, clone WoW more. Clone it all the way to the grave. Assuming the same rate of decline, FFXIV will die first before WoW given it's much smaller userbase - remember it's 4 million registered accounts, not active accounts.
I'm all for your idea, if it weren't obvious they are moving away from cross-class system. It's what's left of 1.0 where you could cross-class just about any skill. Since they seem to be moving away from it, I'd like some meaningful customization to replace it.LOL. Removing it won't stop people from asking for customization.

If the new skills (and gear) are well designed it will be meaningful.
e.g.
A skill on a 10 min CD that will heal you for 100% of max HP at the cost of 50% of your current MP and TP. A last resort skill for fights that went bad.
Gear that regen ... 100 HP per 3 secs. Good for long fights should you choose to go with that strategy.
...
The sky is the limit really.
Remember, the new mobs will be designed with the skills in mind. No matter how OPed they seem, it won't be "easy".

This is funny...specially considering that WoW has talent/skill trees and set bonuses on gear and greater customization.....didnt know that even not having something from WoW made an MMORPG a WoW clone
you say FFXIV is a WoW clone and yet all you ask for are stuff from WoW

WoW is as restrictive as FFXIV when it come to class abilities.
WoW's specs aren't really customization. They are just "sub-classes" - i.e. classes in their own right; each spec, each talent combo are tested and simulated for raiding separately.
This isn't something that applies only to PVP. balance is important to PvE too, even when soloing.
Always funny when something people don't like is "cloned from WoW". Making FFXIV an unbalanced mess won't suddenly make it a better game.
