Server Questions : Aoe kills me :(

It's a sad reality of how the stuff works due to innate delay + network latency. And the larger your ping is, the more misrepresented is the information on screen.
I generally have to dodge the precise millisecond the ground highlight shows on the ground or before 2/3 of the cast bar is filled, otherwise I'm most likely to get hit, even if there was like 1/4th of the cast bar left.
And my raw ping with the servers IP is between 100-150 ms usually.

Edit: By comparison, most MMO services with servers in Europe allow for constant below 60ms ping, usually is around 40-45ms, for me. (I'm in Europe/Romania)

Oh right, well everything else still counts, animation delay and lag combined will kill people dead in their tracks. Try out WTFast OP it is a great tool for people that lag.

My question is thus:
Does WTFast trigger the account security lockout?

As an Australian wanting to get my latency as low as possible, i have a WTFast sub, But ive never tried it in XIV because i worry that it'll be seen as logging in from a different location and thus triggering the password change.

Not if you use the one-time password feature...get either the free smartphone app or buy a physical token. As an added bonus you can set one crystal as a free teleport location.

This problem has been around since launch, if I remember correctly they said there's nothing they can do about it, the only way to make sure that the AoE doesn't hit you is to move away from the danger zone before the cast bar reaches 50%, if you move away after 50% it will hit you most of the time.

Try leathrix latency fix 3.03. Made my game more responsive.
Example, when shooting fire 1 dmg numbers appear same time when particle effect hits. Without the tool dmg numbers appeared 0,5 second before the particle effect hit

Ahh ok, so it would be the same whatever server. I'd prefer a US one tbh, but maybe I move if they build one nearer to where I am.

And yes, I read about cast bars. Is hard for me to look at them while healing though, because my eyes need to be somewhere else. Is a shame the big red circle on the floor isn't a good indicator . I'll see if I can work around it somehow.

You are aware of the Focus Target feature right? So you can have the monsters health and cast bars to the side while you heal?

Eh. I can relate all too well, OP. :/ My game has been awful for more than a week now. Jerky stop-motion animation no matter where I am or what I'm doing - one moment things are moving, then everything freezes, then everyone who was on my screen is out of it. And this is pretty much constant. Get out of AoE, even before casting finishes, BAM I'm still hit by the thing. Press something on the hotbar, either by clicking or by keyboard - next thing I know is that I can't do the next step of my rotation, because the spell wasn't executed so it's not "unlocked".
Beyond ridiculous. And I really don't see how nothing can be done about this. When everything else works perfectly fine on a constant basis. When other companies can have proper connections to their proper servers.

I trigger the password change every other day, it's the other problem i have with this (fantastic lovely wonderful) game!

I wasn't sure if WTFast was a solution or an advert because I saw it plastered everywhere, but if it helps people then I think I'll try it out, I don't have anything to lose. Thanks for all your advice

If you haven't already I'd suggest downloading the software onetime pass word key if you can. That will keep you from triggering the password change when you change locations.
