Server Questions : Aoe kills me :(

Hey! So this is not a complaint but a question about servers.

I get out of Aoe's but I get hit by them. Is quite ridiculous how far i get out of them. I was on the other side of the room when a bomb exploded, but still died. I know you think is my fault but honestly I'm moving out of them. I played WoW and raided in TBC so I know not to stand in fire. Is lag.

Strangely I have perfect connection for everything else, like healing and dps. It's only the Aoe's and it's sad because it looks like I will have real problems to play this game the way i would like. Healer cannot die to bomb in copper mines .

So.. I am an American currently in Europe. So I choose US server to play with my kind . Is this the problem? Will it get better when I go home? Will a European server be a better option for me, I'm here for a while .

You can be on the other side of the room but if you have only just got out of the AoE, if the cast bar finished by the time you left it, it will make it look like you were out of it but in fact it is just animation delay combined with lag so it can look quite skewed. And yes you should probably be playing on the server closest to your location in this case EU.

There IS no server closer to her location seeing as currently all NA and EU servers are in the same place. Which is Montreal.

Oh right, well everything else still counts, animation delay and lag combined will kill people dead in their tracks. Try out WTFast OP it is a great tool for people that lag.

My question is thus:
Does WTFast trigger the account security lockout?

As an Australian wanting to get my latency as low as possible, i have a WTFast sub, But ive never tried it in XIV because i worry that it'll be seen as logging in from a different location and thus triggering the password change.

Not if you use the one-time password feature...get either the free smartphone app or buy a physical token. As an added bonus you can set one crystal as a free teleport location.

Currently both NA and EU servers are in Montreal, so switching to an EU server won't help one bit. But they're building one in Europe, expected to be operational before the end of this year.

And yes, I read about cast bars. Is hard for me to look at them while healing though, because my eyes need to be somewhere else. Is a shame the big red circle on the floor isn't a good indicator . I'll see if I can work around it somehow.

You are aware of the Focus Target feature right? So you can have the monsters health and cast bars to the side while you heal?
