I can't believe it wasn't mentioned. I get the feeling they're avoiding the subject altogether because they've been told not to implement it due to RMT reasons, and they know this knowledge will create a mob of angry players.

The subject of an AH I mean
you don't need a AH the market ward works fine. i have no problem finding the right gear for my class, or selling unwanted gear, i hear the MW used to be broke when there was no search options, but there is now. fixed job done move on
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is the illusion.
Sorry bro, you can move on if you want to but I sure as hell won't. Unlike you, I would like an AH. The poll SE ran a long while back showed that most people wanted one too. So you go right ahead and move on if you want to, I for one, would like some new info.
The poll awhile back shown more people cared for a redesign than they did an AH.
They already stated they're adjusting the Market Wards and will implement a delivery system when they fix the servers, which is why they should just move the UI client side so they can incorporate the DS that much sooner. AH is unneeded as they can just continue to adjust the MW.
A poll can be a misconception or lied. There are ways to manipulate a poll vote. Here's let me make it child friendly for you to understand:The poll awhile back shown more people cared for a redesign than they did an AH.

Pros of having an AH:
Easy access
Easy search.
Easy to find items such as HQ.
Supply and demand (number of items) takes effect on it's own showing how many are selling = less or more likely to lower/raise price meaning if there are more of that item chances are price falls, less of that item, price rises.
There aren't annoying people listing 999,999,999.
Proper Item price history.
Supply & demand common sense applied to community.
Benefiting for crafters quickly getting the items needed to craft.
Little to no lag searching the item needed and bought.
Cons of having an AH:
RMT Camp the AH and or using bots scripts buying/selling/ of the following: AH price control (aka supply and demand), buying items off players who mistakenly or accident list a price bought off and resold for a full price.
When items on at are "0" players can manipulate prices by selling their own item and buying under their name to reset or change price history.
Best solution would be to have GM to be put to work investigating suspicious behavior of people messing with the AH.
Pros of having wards:
Finally able to search for items.
List of characters who are selling it.
Statistics lowest/highest for sale.
Different sections department (subject) of items/equipment that are sold).
Able to have two retainers to hold/sell items.
Cons of having wards:
Takes mass of amount of time of searching, gathering multiple items, and warping to the seller.
Most sellers obnoxiously sell their items in SPAM of "999,999,999" to show off or annoy.
There is no price history.
Economy constantly fluctuates making it difficult to know if a buyer/seller is getting ripped off or not.
Lag polluted area of retainers.
Backwards to selling and buying and waste of time in an all around concept. It's like saying Let's make productive cars slower instead of faster.
Without proper supply and demand of a Auction house, people can instantly put up a retainer selling an item lower/higher price that ruins another person in a competitive matter.
Please excuse my typing, haven't had my coffee yet![]()

私の方法である…
Everything you say about an AH is either already in the wards, will be added to the wards after 1.20, or could easily be added to the wards current functionality. We do not need an AH.
Thanks for being once again being insulting to those who disagree with you, Foulu.
Even if what you say is true (though I'm not convinced of that), there's no question that FFXIV needs to be designed for a more general audience. The poll awhile back shown more people cared for a redesign than they did an AH.

The fact is, Square-Enix created the MMO standard of buying and selling handled mainly through an Auction House. Trying to convince newcomers to accept running from NPC to NPC, Ward, to Ward in this Market Ward system is undoubtedly going to be perceived with frustration and derision. A slim majority of the handful of people left playing might think Market Wards are the future, but they certainly don't match the opinion of MMO players at large, or any gaming magazine who has ever critically reviewed FFXIV.
This game won't be taken seriously until an Auction House is implemented and to go ahead without one will only shave points off any future FFXIV PS3 reviews.

So you want a system where you have to bid on an item then wait atleast an RL day for the bidding to end to get the item because that is an AH, nothing else, yes FFXI had a blind bidding system but it still wasnt an AH.
If you implement buy it now sort of things its still NOT an AH, if people keep asking for an AH this is what we will get.
And dont give me the inevitable but WoW has an auction and an instant buy, because from what I understand is that most people use instant buy, if they implement it like WoW you will make the devs work on somthing that will not be used you know the auction, where you have to wait forever just to find out you got outbid overnight, so what you are left with is, guess what somthing that ISNT an auction.
By all means ask for a "buy from a counter" system but if people keep not understanding the word auction we will get a worse system.
People say the wards are slow, a proper AH will make it even slower, so for god sake stop asking for an AH when you mean somthing completly differant.
/rant over... for now.

We want a system where we can flippin' buy things from the damn search menu.
Here's an example of me purchasing two items in the wards (assuming that I can even find them with the godaweful search function):
Searching, zoning, running, browsing NPC, buying, running, searching, zoning, running, browsing NPC, buying.
This ridiculous method could be simplified to:
Searching, buying, searching, buying.
It's as easy as letting me buy from the search menu. Running to the retainer, and buying from it serves NO PURPOSE what-so-ever.
This would also make it so that I could sell my wares in the more popular wards, which are ALWAYS full.
You can keep your silly market wards for all I care, just give us the option to use an AH separately (I guarantee that it would instantly negate the necessity for a market ward, anyway, considering it's a far more streamlined, logical, and modern system).
Edit:
When most people say "AH", we're referring to an XI style AH, which was the same thing as the current search function for the MW. The only difference was that it relied on price history, vs. current prices of items, and it let you buy the items from the menu, instead of forcing you to hassle with slow-to-pop retainers, and useless running and zoning load times.
