True but lets look at it this way how many MMOs have decided to shut down their auction houses forever because they were hurting the game. I would just guess none of them. An auction house has yet to be a huge negative for any game.
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
now lets look at how many of them are actualy auction houses in function and not just nae
oh thats right, 1 of them, ffxi

I see we are getting into arguing semantics now. I tell ya what I will just keep thinking FFXIV needs an auction house and you keep thinking it doesnt.

Actually, D&D Online has functional auction house. It's a timed auction, seller sets an asking price and an optional buyout price, and an expiry period. Prospective buyers place their bids, and are notified by in-game mail if they've been outbid.
It also has Pawn shops, where sellers sell equipment at a fixed price, and buyers buy it at a higher fixed price. Sellers do better here than selling items to NPCs, and it functions as a money sink, and is an anonymous way to buy and sell. In fact, I believe the AH is also anonymous.
I've just played FFXIV for the first time in months, and find it to be more fun than it was regardless of the MW/AH status. Battle system as a higher priority than economy makes sense to me simply because I do not spend most of my time buying and selling things.
this is the most important factor in anything
people dont buy a game thinking "omg i hope it has an auction house thatl be awesome"
they care about content, battle systems and stuff like that
